japan walk – Meguro Fudoson , a famous temple in Tokyo | Experience the REAL Japan in 4k
I took a walk around Meguro Fudoson and Daienji in Meguro Ward, Tokyo, Japan. During the Edo period, this area was popular as a place of relaxation for the common people, but now it seems as if it has been left behind by the passage of time. Enjoy a virtual walk through the quiet streets. This video will take you as if you have traveled through time to a mysterious corner of Tokyo where the past and present intertwine. Please come and experience the atmosphere of a town that has lost its liveliness.
Meguro Fudoson, whose official name is “”Takisen-ji””, is a temple of the Tendai sect. It was founded by Jikaku Daishi Ennin during the Heian period, and during the Edo period, it received the patronage of Tokugawa Ieyasu and was worshiped as one of the Five Colored Fudo of Edo. The precincts are attractive for their beautiful scenery that is in harmony with nature throughout the four seasons.
On the other hand, Daienji is a temple of the Tendai sect, which was opened in the Kan’ei era (around 1624) by Taikai Hoin, an ascetic monk from Mt. Yudono, and was the source of the Great Fire of Meiwa (1772), one of the three great fires of Edo. It is known for that. Afterwards, a group of stone Buddha statues of the 500 Arhats was erected as a memorial service for the victims, and they still remain in the precincts today. In addition, “”Oshichi Jizo””, which is related to the tragic love story of greengrocer Oshichi and Kichizo, is enshrined here, and it is also known as a power spot for matchmaking and fulfillment in love.
