Shirakawa-go is a village of preserved traditional farm buildings called Gassho-zukuri in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, and is known for its beautiful snowy winter scenery and beautiful autumn leaves.

During the autumn foliage season from October to November, the gassho-zukuri-style houses and surrounding mountains are colored with vivid autumn leaves, so you can enjoy a wonderful scene where autumn leaves and traditional buildings come together.

Many tourists visit Shirakawa-go during the peak of the autumn foliage season, so we recommend arriving early to avoid crowds or booking accommodations, and be sure to confirm transportation options in advance.
