Hello, wonderful viewers! I am Sensei, and I’m super excited to welcome you to a special edition of my vlog. This episode is super exciting because I headed to the Misawa Air Base Air Festival. I’ve heard so much about this event, and I can’t wait to share the experience with all of you. I was incredibly fortunate to be invited by my American friends who have connections on the base. This meant I got the incredible privilege of entering way earlier than the general guests.

Now, I confess, I’m not an aviation expert. Fighter jets and planes were foreign territory for me, but that’s the beauty of it – it was a genuine eye-opener.

As we walked around, you could see the impressive lineup of aircraft on display. There were many booths selling individual aircraft squadron patches, shirts, stickers, and more. From sleek fighter jets to helicopters and cargo planes, Misawa Air Base has it all. And guess what? Such a rare chance to get up close and personal with some of these incredible machines. Some aircraft even allowed guests to tour inside.

Every year in September, the Air Show unfolds as a day-long celebration featuring fighter jets executing aerial stunts, the chance to closely admire or interact with aircraft on the ground. It’s only on this special day that the gates swing open for everyone while remaining off-limits to non-military individuals throughout the year. There are also Japanese aircrafts at the other end though I did not take video of it.

Here’s a jet doing its routine checks. The base was abuzz with activity, and I couldn’t help but notice the dedicated police K9 dogs on duty. We spotted a U.S. fire engine, and to our surprise, the driver was not only friendly but gave us a cheerful wave.

Now, no festival is complete without some delicious food. Serving as a mini-America in Japan, Air Show signifies access to American fast food like Burger King (the only one in Aomori), Taco Bell, Popeyes, and more. This may not be special for anyone who just arrived in Japan from a foreign country, but for those who are currently living in Japan, this is an annual event not to be missed.

The fighter jets soared right above us with deafening supersonic might. Do bring along noise-canceling headgear, or else you might find the roar overwhelming. Remember to hit that like button and drop a comment. This is Q sensei signing off. Bye!

  2. Qsensei, thanks for sharing your valuable experience.😃
I didn't know they were having such an event in Aomori prefecture.
By the way, Aomori is the only prefecture in Tohoku I have never been to.
I know that air shows and base introductions are very popular among enthusiastic military geeks. I have one such person as a friend of mine. I am not that enthusiastic, so at most I have taken an inside tour of the Maritime Self-Defense Force's Aegis in Maizuru, Kyoto, I guess.
By the way, I hear that a single launch of a modern high-performance combat jet costs a tremendous amount of money. I also hear that the Gs exerted on the crew's bodies are also considerable.
Perhaps fans of F1 racing and fans of air shows may have a little in common. I thought that people obsessed with speed and thrill would go to see the show.
The food featured in the video looked delicious. The food with the American flag stuck in it, what is that?
