■What is Kingdom Centre?
Completed in 2002, Kingdom Centre (Arabic: مركز المملكة), formerly Kingdom Tower, is a 99-story, 302.3 metre (992 ft) tall building in the al-Olaya district of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The tower is built on a four-metre thick, 3,100 square metre raft foundation, its structure made up of two systems: reinforced concrete columns, beams and core for the first 180 metres and steel tubular frame construction for the remaining height.

The tower was designed by the US-based architecture firm Ellerbe Becket in a joint venture with the Riyadh-based architecture and engineering firm Omrania and Associates.

The tower covers an area of ​​100,000m2 and includes the 57,000m2 Al-Mamlaka shopping mall, 13 floors of offices, the 10-storey Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh and five floors of luxury apartments.

The shopping mall in the east wing is divided into three floors and houses more than 150 stores. The first floor is for young people, the second floor is for fashion and furniture, and the third floor is for women. The west wing has event and entertainment spaces.

The top third of the tower features an inverted parabolic arch, and at the very top is the 65-metre-long Skybridge, a public observation deck. The Skybridge is a 300-ton steel structure in the form of an enclosed corridor with windows on both sides. After paying the entrance fee, visitors take two elevators to its floors.

Furthermore, it is home to the King Abdullah Mosque, the tallest mosque in the world in terms of height above ground level.

When it was completed in 2002, it was the tallest tower in Saudi Arabia, overtaking the 267-metre (876-foot) tall Faisaliyah Tower. It has since been overtaken and is now the fifth tallest skyscraper in Saudi Arabia. The two tallest buildings in Saudi Arabia are the Abraj Al Bait Tower and the Capital Market Authority Tower. It is the third tallest building with a hole in the ground in the world, after the Shanghai World Financial Centre and the 85 Sky Tower in Taiwan.

■ما هو مركز المملكة؟
مركز المملكة (بالعربية: مركز المملكة)، المعروف سابقًا باسم برج المملكة، هو مبنى مكون من 99 طابقًا بارتفاع 302.3 مترًا (992 قدمًا) في حي العليا بالرياض، المملكة العربية السعودية.

تم بناء البرج على أساس طوافة بسمك أربعة أمتار ومساحة 3100 متر مربع، ويتكون هيكله من نظامين: أعمدة وعوارض وأساس من الخرسانة المسلحة لأول 180 مترًا وبناء إطار أنبوبي فولاذي للارتفاع المتبقي.

تم تصميم البرج من قبل شركة الهندسة المعمارية الأمريكية Ellerbe Becket في مشروع مشترك مع شركة الهندسة المعمارية والهندسة Omrania and Associates ومقرها الرياض.

يغطي البرج مساحة 100000 متر مربع ويشمل مركز تسوق المملكة بمساحة 57000 متر مربع و13 طابقًا من المكاتب وفندق فور سيزونز الرياض المكون من 10 طوابق وخمسة طوابق من الشقق الفاخرة.

ينقسم مركز التسوق في الجناح الشرقي إلى ثلاثة طوابق ويضم أكثر من 150 متجرًا. الطابق الأول للشباب، والطابق الثاني للأزياء والأثاث، والطابق الثالث للسيدات. يحتوي الجناح الغربي على مساحات للفعاليات والترفيه.

يتميز الثلث العلوي من البرج بقوس مكافئ مقلوب، وفي الأعلى يوجد جسر علوي بطول 65 مترًا، وهو منصة مراقبة عامة. الجسر العلوي عبارة عن هيكل فولاذي يزن 300 طن على شكل ممر مغلق به نوافذ على كلا الجانبين. بعد دفع رسوم الدخول، يستقل الزوار مصعدين إلى طوابقه.

    I think it is against U.S. flag protocol to have another flag higher or same height as U.S. Flag. Lobby was beautiful. Luxury hotels need to have a great entrance and lobby.
