Litang County is affiliated to the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province. It is located in the west of Sichuan Province and the southwest of the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is bounded by the Yajiang River in the east, Muli, Daocheng, and Xiangcheng Counties in the south, Batang in the west, and Baiyu and Xinlong Counties in the north. It is 654 kilometers away from the provincial capital Chengdu.
Litang County is dominated by hilly plateaus and mountain plains, with some alpine valleys. Most of them are between 3,600 meters and 4,600 meters above sea level. They are distributed vertically, with cultivated land, woodland, and grassland.
