Rainy Season Walk in Beautiful Mountain Village | Kawakami, Japan 4K Rural Afternoon Ambience

Kawakami is a small farming village in the mountains of Kamikawa in central Hyogo, Japan. It’s one of my favorite villages to walk through with its terraced rice fields and flowing canals alongside a cascading river. The sound of flowing water is almost everywhere, and in this early-summer season the green from the rice fields looks unreal. It is the rainy season now, so later in the walk we are treated to a nice bit of rain.

If you are interested in what this village is like on a sunny day, I filmed a walk here a few months ago: https://youtu.be/12R7cPtUwRE

  1. The Kashima, or Khasi Mother, as believed by the ancient Japanese, set foot on this beautiful island, blessing the land with abundant beauty and charm and vowing to protect it. The ancient Khasi people, who first arrived on this land, named the area Ka Wah Kamei, pronounced today as Kawakami, meaning "Ka Wah" (a river) and "Mei" (mother) in the ancient Hitto Sumerian Khasi language.
