Mt. Eboshi, one of the five peaks of Aso Nakamatsu, Minamiaso Village, Aso District Description of Mt. Eboshi (Eboshi-dake). Mount Aso does not refer to a single mountain, but to a group of mountains known as the Five Peaks of Aso. The five peaks that make up Mount Aso are called, from the west end, Eboshi-dake, Kishima-dake, Naka-dake, Taka-dake, and Neko-dake. This mountain is still an active volcano, with smoke rising from the central crater cone of Nakadake and access being prohibited at times. Of the five peaks of Mt. Aso, Mt. Eboshi has not yet been introduced, so we have photographed it from multiple locations so that everyone can see it. Located in Minamiaso Village, Aso District, it stands 1,336.7 meters above sea level and is characterized by its acutely angled triangular shape, towering over the western end of Mount Aso. It is popular as a mountain that can be easily climbed in about an hour from Kusasenri Parking Lot. There are clusters of Miyama Kirishima flowers along the hiking trail, and many hikers visit during the flowering season from May to June. It is located between Kusasenrigahama to the north and Mt. Okamado to the south, and this time we would like you to see its shape from Prefectural Route 111, which runs along the valley between Eboshi-dake and Mt. Okamado. Today, I would like to introduce Mt. Eboshi, one of the five peaks of Aso. I arrived there just after turning onto Prefectural Route 111 from the Furubochū Ruins. I would like you to see Mt. Eboshi from along this prefectural road. It’ll only be a short while, but please enjoy. Mt. Kishima Mt. Eboshi The east and south sides, which we will be introducing here, are steeply sloping and expose the mountainside. Trekking takes place on the gentle slope on the other side. I would like to take a look around while heading south on Prefectural Route 111. This is the view from Eboshidake Observatory. I passed through the Hinoyama Tunnel.
