Hi everyone! Is a BIGBUS tour worth the price? Let’s find out! This hop-on hop-off bus costs $63 for 1 day and $65.70 for 2 days, so I chose the 2-day deal. I boarded from stop #5, Union Square. You can buy a ticket from these representatives, and they will print it out on the spot. It’s warm now, but it will get very cold when we are close to the ocean. This is my first sightseeing bus in 28 years living in the city. Overly excited now! With the headphones they provided, I enjoyed the pre-recorded commentary in English. Unfortunately, there is no Japanese available. This is the GLIDE memorial church, where a "homeless shelter" scene in "The Pursuit of Happyness" was filmed. The bus passed by one of my favorite buildings in San Francisco, Hibernia Bank. I was surprised to see how the city looked different from the top of the bus, which was very cool! The breeze on my cheeks was very pleasant and I felt very happy. #7, majestic San Francisco City Hall! This city hall is so gorgeous that even some people in LA come here to marry. Marilyn Monroe married here! The last scene of "Indiana Jones: Raiders and the Lost Ark" was filmed at this grand staircase. Harrison Ford stood there. The bus passed by the War Memorial Opera House. #8, the famous Alamo Square! It’s just one block up from the bus stop. #9, a hippy area, Haight-Ashbury! There are street signs of Haight and Ashbury Sts. ahead. They are the most frequently stolen street signs in the city. They are placed high up so tourists can’t steal them. The cold fog is visible now. #10, Golden Gate Park. Don’t forget to visit the tower at De Young Museum. It’s free! From the tower, one can enjoy the view of the "living roof" at the Academy of Sciences. Next, we’re visiting the Golden Gate Bridge. I’m prepared for the cold and windy conditions. We’re now on the bridge. It’s very foggy here, but wait for a while. The fog is like a living thing. The cold fog comes from The Pacific Ocean. #11, Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point. Now, the long-anticipated "suicide deterrent net’ is installed. I decided to cross the bridge back to San Francisco. It was hard to walk in the cold and windy fog. The bridge has 2 fog horns for maritime safety. Every time I hear it from my home, it reminds me I’m in San Francisco. On the next day, there was no fog. Our bus driver was nice enough to warn passengers that it would be very cold on the bridge. Most passengers went downstairs to shelter from the cold wind. I stayed here to shoot this footage. I look so happy! When I saw this lady’s hair, music came up to my head. This is the music. #12, Palace of Fine Arts. This was originally built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Expo. It’s a popular place for wedding photos. The Japanese word, "komorebi," means "sunlight filtering through the trees." In Japanese, that entire concept is just one word. The former chocolate factory is now the popular tourist spot, Ghirardelli Square. #16, the famous Pier 39. A beautiful view of Alcatraz Island. Sea lions are having fun! #1, the starting point of the tour. On the right is Boudin Bakery, famous for its sourdough bread. Their clam chowder in a bread bowl is very popular. The clam chowder prices are different on the 1st and the 2nd floors. If you are on a budget, enjoy it on the 1st floor. After the bakery, we’ll see the familiar "Fisherman’s Wharf" sign. From the corner of Columbus Ave. and Lombard St., you can see the crooked street at the top. #2, North Beach, San Francisco’s "Little Italy." Almost everything is expensive in San Francisco, but coffee at Victoria Pastry is very reasonable! Sitting outside while enjoying an iced coffee is one of my favorite things to do. Washington Square. #3, Chinatown. This area borders both Chinatown and North Beach. The famous City Lights Bookstore is on the right. By the way, the 1-day bus ticket seems expensive, but the 2-day ticket is worth it. I would buy it again in the future. The green building ahead is owned by movie director, Francis Ford Coppola. The first floor is Cafe Zoetrope, and I love their tiramisu. The bus passes by San Francisco’s iconic Transamerica Pyramid in the Financial District. Then, back to Union Square.
