Suzhou, located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, China, adjacent to Shanghai, is famous for its water towns in the south of the Yangtze River, renowned as “the paradise on earth.” Founded in 514 BC, Suzhou has a history of over 2,500 years and is one of China’s 24 famous historical and cultural cities, with a unique style of “small bridges, flowing water, white walls and black tiles, historical relics, and famous gardens.” Suzhou is a important tourist city in China, with Pingjiang and Shantang historical blocks being named as the famous historical and cultural street in China and the most popular tourist historical and cultural street in China. Currently, there are 108 gardens in Suzhou included in the Suzhou Garden List. Nine classical gardens, including the Humble Administrator’s Garden, the Lingering Garden, the Canglang Pavilion, and the Lion Grove Garden, have been listed in the World Cultural Heritage List by the United Nations.
