Tsukiji Fish Market(築地市場)Lively festival-Japan 4K Walking Tour-Captions & Immersive Sound [4K HD]

Tsukiji Market (築地市場) is a major tourist attraction for both domestic and overseas visitors in Tokyo. The area contains retail markets, restaurants, and associated restaurant supply stores. Before 2018, it was the largest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world. The market opened on 11 February 1935 as a replacement for an older market that was destroyed in the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake. It was closed on 6 October 2018, with wholesale operations moving to the new Toyosu Market. The market is located near the Tsukijishijō Station on the Toei Ōedo Line and Tsukiji Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line. There were two distinct sections of the market as a whole, but after the transfer to Toyosu, only the outer market remains. The outer market (jōgai-shijō) is a mixture of wholesale and retail shops that sell Japanese kitchen tools, restaurant supplies, groceries, and seafood, and many restaurants, especially sushi restaurants. Most of the shops in the outer market closed by the early afternoon. Located in Tsukiji, the Namiyoke Inari-jinja Shrine has long been known as a place to pray for protection from disaster, safety out at sea, economic prosperity, and safety in construction work. The area in Tsukiji where the shrine is located was under the sea 350 years ago. At the start of the Edo period (1603-1867), the land was reclaimed, but the embankments were constantly being washed away. According to legend, one stormy night, a divine entity emerged from the ocean. As the people began praying to it, the waves and winds calmed down, and construction work was safely completed in 1659. The Tsukiji Shishi Festival is said to be held to commemorate this legend with its parade of floats: a dragon that controls the clouds, a tiger that controls the winds, and giant shishi lion heads that compel the entire world to obey them with a single roar.
