It is one of the most famous winter events in Japan ❄️ There are 3 different locations for this event: Odori Park, Susukino, and Tsudome. Let’s check out the attractions and sculptures together! It also just started snowing 🌨️❄️ Hello! Today, Jiji goes to Otaru for the Snow Light Path Festival! ❄️🕯️ It’s one of the most famous winter events in Otaru, Hokkaido in which the city becomes beautifully illuminated with thousands of small snow lanterns and light displays. The festival also features various snow sculptures scattered throughout the city, creating a snowy wonderland for visitors to explore. This event attracts many visitors from different parts of the world. However, the fundamental idea of this event is not to increase visitors or revenue, but a chance for people experience the beauty of winter in Hokkaido and immerse oneself in the charm of this historic port city illuminated by the soft glow of snow lanterns and lights. The main attractions of the Otaru Snow Light Path Festival include the Otaru Canal area and that’s where we are heading to today. Also, if you ever plan on visiting Hokkaido, Japan during the winter season, be sure to dress warmly, prepare for cold temperatures, check the weather forecast and bring an umbrella if necessary (don’t be like us haha), as Hokkaido can experience heavy snowfall and chilly weather, just like what we experienced during this walk. Jiji’s snow dance 💃😄 It’s really windy now. It’s snowing really heavy 🌨️ We are walking against the wind~ My feet are soaked. I didn’t pack snow boots 😅 Let’s grab a hot drink before we head home.
