7 Places in Osaka You Don’t Know About (probably) – Travel in Japan 大阪の知らない観光場所 Hidden Japan

[Music] [Music] hi everyone David here welcome back to the channel thanks for coming back for another video or welcome if it’s your first one um you’re doing okay I’m okay I’ve been styled professionally today I’ve had a haircut uh because it’s a rainy horrible day oh my plans got ruined um so I decided I was going to give you a Clips video today um of course you know this is David in Osaka I keep talking about Osaka all the time probably getting tired well too bad this is the go go to another city that’s fine um I’ve already made my best 50 places to visit in Osaka definitely check that out um I made a short version as well claim of short of the best 10 uh to recommend um but today I thought I’d go off the beating track a bit and talk about seven play this is in Osaka prefecture that you probably haven’t been to you might not even know about um they’re probably not going to be on the top 10 lists anywhere um so here we are I’m doing my public service and uh Spread spread the toist around everywhere uh okay so that will be me I’m going to do my little narration soon uh but before I start please like this video that would help me a lot subscribe to the channel I’m so close to 800 I might even have that by the time you’re watching this video who knows get me to 1,000 that’s my next Target uh leave a comment are there any any other mysterious places in Osaka that you recommend that I haven’t mentioned I’d love to know them as well um or have you been to the mall and you’re just going boo at me whatever that’s fine please leave a comment it all counts towards my engagement and also share this channel to anyone who is visiting Osaka soon and they’re a bit fussy about where they go maybe this will be perfect for them okay I’m going to hand over to myself and I’ll see you on the other side okay okay let’s start in nakazaki Cho this is one of the old areas close to umeda uh it’s only about a 5 minute walk from chayamachi uh so this has an interesting combination of uh Modern Art and old reclaimed buildings in the old old style a lot of these buildings survive from before World War II and one of the few places in Osaka where the the building survived nowadays it’s been kind of repurposed as an artistic Haven there’s a lot of kind of Bohemian style cafes around everywhere little hidden hidden areas there an organic granola shop if you’re into that that kind of gives you the Vibe of uh what kind of shops there there are in nakazaki cha um yeah really kind of peaceful place to walk around very close to downtown as well even though it feels really isolated um even some like hidden restaurants including the uh amanto Cafe which uh one of the most famous ones there you can look inside and see a lot of the old um decorations and Furnishings so still keeping some of its classic classic Vibe okay so next place is Tudi Loi Park which is off to the east of Osaka in Osaka City very huge Park one of the hosts of the former um flower Expo and on Sundays they have this kind of uh Open Air Market have a lot of food stands there you can try all your trending Instagram foods of course this is a big Park too uh rivaling the banaka park in the north um so nice water features there’s all these Pavilions representing the Expo um this is the Dutch one of course giant windmill you don’t see many windmills in Osaka but you can go there and enjoy the view and of course they have seasonal flowers too uh this area has kind of changing displays so in this particular season uh not sure what kind of flower that is but they’ve got tulips and other times of the year and so on uh of course the cherry blossoms are beautiful here too had a bit of a walk around there’s a whole video about this if you want to see that um so definitely check this out if the Expo Park is a bit too crowded for you and very easy to get to from uh Central or suaka so definitely go to to Loi Park uh in the middle there’s also a kind of tropical Botanical Garden as well so go and check out the uh I don’t know tropical flower housee uh nice if it’s a rainy day and you don’t really want to walk around the park but inside it’s very cheap to enter we’ve got a little tropical Zone you can see all the tropical flowers um and some orchids I guess I’m not very good with flower names but I’m pretty sure about those you can see some uh other there’s kind of a lot of regional biomes as well there’s uh dry area for cacti cacti uh there’s like Alpine flower one as well so check out all of that in Tumi Luchi Park next uh let’s fly through the sky to the DOR corun in Sakai City this is the only UNESCO world heritage site in Osaka prefecture um one of these coron these Keyhole shaped things is actually a burial mound for former Emperors um these are very very old over a thousand years old uh so you can check those out a nice model there um unfortunately you can’t see a great deal from ground level uh you can see this kind of toy gate entering the the burial mound um unfortunately yeah that’s the problem but it’s a nice park to walk around um there’s a very good museum inside too which explains everything with lots of overhead uh aerial maps as well and some presentations and some very friendly stuff and there’s some other smaller cofin around here too uh again you can’t really see much from ground level but you can have a walk around this unusual Island um even on a rainy day like I was going uh if you want a better view you can go to Sakai city um city hall and you can see kind of the uh C room from there you can’t really see the keyhole shape they really need a big tower in this place I think but it’s a nice viewing Point um so from Sakai City Hall you can also see the Hadas if you squint your eyes there it is in the middle that was the tallest building in Osaka next is Nagi Park uh this is a nice park to walk around during the day and has some nice restaurants and running track and uh the yamar stadium as well which has some big events occasionally uh but you might want to come here at night to see the team Labs Botanical Garden uh Team Labs is an Art Collective that has sites all over Japan and uh elsewhere uh combining art and kind of visual and immersive soundscapes the Botanical Garden has all these strange displays like these glowing eggs um some light up forests it’s quite nice to walk around in the in the summer as well if you don’t mind the mosquitoes um some more eggs you can walk around and touch this is a very kind of interactive Museum as well team Labs tend to be indoors um I recommend checking them out wherever you find them but this outdoor one is quite unique it’s got those kind of wobbly hand uh things you get outside car dealerships very very pretty and there’s a nice soundscape to go with it um especially these movement sensitive block things and uh just a general General vibe if you just want to take some Instagram pictures like everybody else then that’s fine I you can just enjoy the new Agy sounds I grew up in the kind of Nye generation so that’s why I like this I guess okay uh a bit further field you can go to ikada City and join the nishin cup noodle Museum if you’re lucky Dy will be there too uh inside you get a timeline of uh the cup noodle um history the complete history of all the different types nishin is one of the main manufacturers of cup noodles uh you can see the history of the first ever cup noodles which were born in Osaka prefecture down south I think in maybe is City and uh how the manufacturing process uh happens you can even see noodles in space apparently but the main attraction here is to buy your own uh bone your own cup noodles and you can color in the packet yourself and then they’ll put it all together for you freshest uh instant noodles there you go the lady will put the put the things in the cup and then you can turn the handle there we go turn it around go Dy you can do it um so yeah this is very interesting you can get your very special souvenirs you can decorate it how you like and also you can choose your own toppings as well which is uh very interesting but don’t put too much garlic in because it was gross when I did mine um so that’s the Nishan cup noodle Museum very cheap as well okay now in takasi City there is the Hana Factory Park uh very tucked away you needs to take a bus from um the station to get here you can see all these ancient uh hanar KS and some old I think these were drying Huts as well um old old buildings where people used to live as well uh Hana are these kind of ceramic uh icons these these Idols they were often put in very old Mounds as well or they represented things in daily life oh dear large and in charge of that guy uh you got some horses too some Warriors so very nice these are just replicas but um very interesting you can see a bit of free history there and you can see the real thing inside the very small Museum as well see some real ones and you can also see the excavation site where they find one of the old uh kils for these Ceramics so go to T tatki if you can and finally the most interesting incineration plant you’ll ever see in the world this is in maima this is the rather Willy Wonka esque uh incineration plant uh they just thought well why it doesn’t have to be well it can’t beautiful if if you want it to be so there’s all these rather unusually designed um buildings you can take a tour around as well if you book in advance um I wasn’t really that interested in garbage incineration but uh maybe you will and yeah you can check out this strange building there’s a few other buildings nearby as well made by the same architect I think he’s a European architect and uh I don’t know if it was like a in a ji movie or something like an illustration come to life imagine working here you know are these the conference rooms I’m not sure so check out maima it’s a bit of a track to get there but there is also the maima Seaside Park there if you come during the Spring that’s very nice for its flowers and uh there we go that those are my seven unusual places in Osaka uh do you fancy going to any of these how about going to the top of this big tower uh yeah let me know in the comments okay thanks for watching all the way to the end I appreciate that so what did you think have you been to any of these places before and what did you think about those uh please leave a a comment about that are there any other places that I missed that you think are a bit more random um there’s a couple on there I didn’t have a chance to go there so I’m going to do those in a future video um but yeah OA prefecture is pretty small prefecture really um I think it’s one of the smallest in Japan um of course it’s got a huge City in it but um even by area there’s a lot of kind of hidden hidden treasures in there somewhere so I recommend if you have a long in alaka then check some of those out if you’re interested um okay that’s enough for me today so thank you for watching um let me know what you want me to do next if you’re interested excuse me uh in the comments uh please like this video subscribe share all that stuff that would help me so much please do it and um okay I’ll see you next time take care bye-bye

Here is my secret list of 7 places in Osaka you don’t know about! Well you might, I don’t know your life!

I love Osaka, I’ve been living here almost 10 years, and it is full of surprises, even now. I think it’s a little overlooked in favour of Tokyo and Kyoto, so here is my attempt at putting that right, so thanks for choosing this video!

At the end of 2023 I made my ultimate guide of the best 50 places to visit in Osaka prefecture.
I know 50 is probably a bit too many for a casual visitor, and some people just can’t sit through a 40 minute video (but I hope you do!). But in that case I decided to make a shorter version with the best 10 (but it still ended up as 17 minutes, whoops). Please check those out if you are interested in this video!

This is the culmination of almost three years of work filming everywhere – I took all this footage myself! Please don’t reproduce this material without permission.

Here’s the full list – there aren’t enough characters to give information about closest stations, but please check out my “Best of Osaka” area-by-area videos for longer clips and more information in the descriptions!

1) Nakazakicho (Osaka City)
2) Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park(Osaka City)
3) Daisenryo Kofun (Sakai City)
4) Nagai Park (Osaka City)
5) Nissin Cup Noodle Museum (Ikeda City)
6) Haniwa Factory Park (Takatsuki City)
7) Maishima Incineration Park (Osaka City)
