⁴ᴷ Nagano: Kami Suwa Station (長野県: 上諏訪駅) – Japan Walking Tour (April, 2024)
In April, we will be taking pictures while moving from Kansai to Hokuriku. I walked through a town on the route from Hokuriku back to Tokyo.
I see there is a footbath on the platform. I didn’t know that. It would be nice to take a relaxing soak while watching the train. There are restaurants and a nice shopping area along the train tracks from the station, and there is also a hot spring resort within walking distance from the station.

動画、ありがとうございます。お疲れ様です。上諏訪駅は特急あずさの停車駅であり、上諏訪温泉街の最寄り駅ですが、人通りは少ない。鉄道の利用が廃れ、車利用が中心となって、賑やかな商業エリアは幹線道路沿いに移ってしまっています。
なぜ、知っているかというと、リーマンショックの後に、上諏訪駅周辺でマンション営業をしていたからです。昔からの駅前商店街がシャッター通りになっているのを見て愕然としました。当時、駅前に百貨店がありましたが、今は建て替えられてショッピングセンターになってますね。地方都市は街全体の新たな都市計画が必要なんでしょうね。
