“My friends and I won lottery tickets to climb Half Dome late in the summer. We found out just a day before of the thunderstorms forecasted for the afternoon, which would make the granite slab especially dangerous. However, we packed our rain gear and began the 14 mile trek early before sunrise. At the top, it wasn’t rain clouds that greeted us, but a pillar of smoke quickly spreading through the park. The smoke made an excellent separation of the rock face from the surrounding rock giants.” #MyCanonStory
