Riding the Shimanami Kaido! 🚲 Japan Cycling Route in the Setouchi Sea しまなみ海道 Scenic Bike Ride Video
I’ve been hearing great things about the Shimanami Kaido (しまなみ海道) for a while, and in March I finally got to ride on it! This scenic bike road connects several islands in Japan’s inland sea, with some amazing dedicated cycling infrastructure.
It’s 60 kilometers long, around 37 miles, connecting the cities of Onomichi and Imabari, through Hiroshima and Ehime prefectures. At the end to get to Imabari (on Shikoku), you cross the 2nd longest suspension bridge in the world! This takes you 2.5 miles across the Kurushima Strait.
