You are literally next to the border of my country, Myanmar. Too bad that we are literally in a civil war right now that it's impossible for you to cross the border and visit the country.
But anyway Chinese border cities are getting better and better by the days in terms of development and infrastructures and ours are going the different direction because of the military coup and the ensuing anti-coup movements and wars against junta.
I'm really surprised that you actually visited Mangshi city. You can go a little bit further to visit the Chinese border city Ruili(瑞麗市） and Jiegao（姐告）which is just next to Myanmar city, Muse (木姐市). And there's a small village not very far from Ruili city that it straddlles the border line between Myanmar & China. Visitors can literally just walk across between the two countries in the middle of the village. But I don't know whether it's still possible to do that now there.
I remember when I was a teen boy and I visited Mangshi city with my dad, and I got very surprised by the fact that the city is pretty much like a city in Myanmar, or in Shan state to be specific. It was because I never thought I would find people wearing Longyi ( 沙龍）in a Chinese city and there are so many Dai people and Dai style architectures and pagodas just like in Myanmar Shan state, the state that I was born. From there I realized that there are also Shan people (Dai people) in China just like in our country.
