Today we will head to Kakegawa Castle from Kakegawa Station. It is about a 7 minute walk from the station. Kakegawa Castle is famous for its restored wooden castle tower. The exterior has been rebuilt with reference to the Kochi Castle tower. I could see the castle tower and drum turret.

What you can see below is a reverse river that acts as a natural moat. This is a restored four-legged gate. This is said to be a three-dimensional model of Arita ware. I’ll quickly go up the stairs.

The drum turret you can see in front of you seems to have been moved and preserved from another location. We finally arrived at the castle tower. The castle tower has three floors and four floors in the form of a gazebo. In Kakegawa Castle, this enclosure is called Tenshumaru.

As Kochi Castle is used as a reference, the Ninja Gaeshi is also recreated. This well is called a mist well. I will go inside the castle tower. As soon as you enter, there is an equestrian statue of Kazutoyo Yamauchi, who built the castle tower. The current castle tower was rebuilt in 1994.

As expected, the restored wooden structure has an elegance to it. The roof tiles also appear to have been restored by craftsmen. There was also a mushakakure. I arrived at the top floor. This is said to be a full-size replica of the castle tower Shachi. The stone drop has also been restored.

There are also plenty of exhibits. You can see Ninomaru Palace, which we will go to later. The earthen wall appears to be undergoing repair work. Crescent moat also remains. It seems that the depth is as much as 8m. Kakegawa Castle has one of the few remaining castle palaces.

It’s a great deal because you can tour it along with the castle tower. The castle tower stands out well against the blue sky. This is the Goshoin upper room. This is the armor of the lord of Kakegawa Castle, which was donated by Ryotaro Sugi.

It is a car-chomochi with a car attached to the bottom. This is a sign that is an important cultural property. Lion dance is known as a local entertainment in Kakegawa.
