Walking tour of Sanjo Street and Honnoji Temple in Kyoto, Japan [4K]
Hello everyone. This time we will be walking around Kyoto again. This time we will take a walk from Sanjo Street to Honnoji Temple. This is the area near Karasuma Street. The Western-style building on the left is the Chukyo Post Office. It’s an eye-catching architecture. Here is the walking route.
Sanjo-dori Street is full of stylish architecture and is fun to stroll around. If you keep going, you will cross the Kamogawa River and reach Nanzenji Temple. The Kyoto Cultural Museum is located here. This is also a beautiful building. There are various shops and you can enjoy walking around.
As you approach the shopping district of Teramachi, the shops get bigger. There are many eye-catching buildings. The shopping arcade is approaching. This is the intersection with Teramachi Kyogoku Shopping Street. This area is packed with arcades. Proceed along Teramachi Street and head towards Honnoji Temple. There is a Yata Jizo statue here.
Strolling around the shopping district is fun. Beyond the arcade is Kyoto City Hall. And Honnoji Temple is here. This temple is famous as the site of Oda Nobunaga’s grave. This is the main hall. Oda Nobunaga’s grave is behind the main hall. This is Nobunaga Kobyo. The grave is in the back.
You can pass through to Kawaramachi Street from here. Proceed towards Sanjo-dori again. I came to the Kawaramachi Sanjo intersection. We will proceed through the arcade of Sanjo Meitengai. 今回も、街歩きを楽しんでいるつもりで視聴しました。
三条通りは、洋風建築と和風建築がそれぞれあったり、個性的な店がいくつかあったりなど、バラエティに富んでいたと思います。
また、河合塾などの塾や教室も、目立っていた感じです。
よって、三条通りは和洋建築、そして行き交う内外の人たちなど、いわゆる「異文化コミュニケーション（ある英会話学校のCMではないですが 笑）」の通りといっても、良いかと思います（笑）。
明日も、楽しみに待っています😍。
本能寺についてネットで調べてみました。歴史上にも名高い「本能寺の変」の舞台となった本能寺は、実は現在の本能寺がある場所ではなく、蛸薬師西洞院のあたりにあったときに起こりました。 その名残として、かつての本能寺跡の石碑が蛸薬師小川交差点南西角に建てられており、今はその石碑があるだけらしいですね。
