Today we’re going to take you to see a different side of Santorini, as compared to the typical blue and white churches most people associate with the island. We’ll show you some more natural wonders. Santorini used to be a volcanic landscape millions of years ago,

And the volcanic activity back then was quite active, spewing lava and basalt, creating various unique formations. Today, we’ll show you some very special beaches. Right now, we’re at the “Red Beach.” Take a look Look behind me, the entire cliffside here is red. This area’s volcanic rock

Contains rich iron, which, combined with lava, deposited in the seawater, created this rusty color. That’s why this beach is called the Red Beach, Even on the sand, you can find traces of this red element, remnants of the volcanic lava that collided with seawater, resulting in this red hue.

Isn’t it fascinating? The entire cliffside here is all rusty red, a unique layering on this terrain. Now, let’s take you to the next unique scene. Here we are at the famous “Black Beach” on Santorini Island, just a 5 minutes drive from the Red Beach we visited earlier.

All this black sand here is made of rocks erupted from the volcano, giving the sand here its black color. It’s still March, so it’s not tourist season yet, and there are very few people around. The sea is also quite chilly, not suitable for swimming yet,

But you can still dip your toes in. Take a look at the houses here; they’re all built on the cliffside, So special! They directly carved into the cliff and dug holes to live in. Some are built with cobblestones,

Like these, which they use as their building material, directly available from the surroundings. It’s similar to the architecture in Fujian towns in Kinmen and Matsu. Now, let’s move on to the third beach. This is the “White Beach.” When I first saw it on the Google map,

I thought it was a beach with white sand, but when we got here, we realized that it’s the white cliffs not the sand that gives its name During the peak season, you can take a boat to a small beach below for swimming. The natural beauty here

with these massive white rocks is quite remarkable. And they are all very white. These rocks were all eroded from the volcanic rocks and have this unique white color. It’s truly special. Now, let’s take you to the next attraction. Hey, we can go inside!
