Serene Koh Lanta – Magnificent Koh Kradan [4K] Walking Tour. Thailand 2024.
Hello guys. Today we are traveling to Koh Lanta in the province of Krabi. The most convenient way to get to Koh Lanta is to take the ferry at Hua Hin Pier. Ferry hours are from 8:00am to 6:30pm, departing approximately every 30 minutes.
The ticket price for 2 people and a car is 130 baht. The remarkable thing is that you have to buy tickets 400 meters before the pier. Travel time does not exceed 15 minutes. You can enjoy the views of mangroves along the way. The island is divided by a small strait into two parts.
The main tourist infrastructure is located in the southern part. The two parts of the island are connected by a car bridge. Lanta has a very rustic vibe, I never once managed to spot a building higher than three stories. There are almost no big chain stores or restaurants here.
But 7/11 can be found anywhere) One of the main advantages of Lanta is the cheaper prices for everything compared to the major resorts in Thailand. So staying in a hotel on the front line will not ruin you) Khlong Dao Beach
Khlong Dao is not only the very first beach after the bridge but also the quietest. On the beach there are no sunbeds that says that the beach is not overloaded with people. Most of the beach cafes have a very homely look, which further emphasizes the laid-back vibe of the island.
This place is great for family vacations. Improvised electric pole with sockets in the sea. 120 baht for a coffee and orange juice is very cheap for a beach cafe. Similar to Ao Nang and Railay, this beach has high tides.
By evening, there are more people and the beach restaurants are getting ready to welcome the sunset. What you can’t take away from this place are the very beautiful sunsets. After the sun has set the beach restaurants fill up. This cafe serves a special menu on Wednesdays and Sundays.
A portion of BBQ ribs weighing about 500 grams is only 350 baht. One of the most popular sea excursions is the “4 Islands” which includes Koh Kradan. The main beach of Koh Kradan is recognized as the most beautiful beach in the world 2023.
Departure is from the northern part of Khlong Dao Beach. The cost of the tour is 1800 baht per person and another 200 baht entrance to the national park. Travel time to the first disembarkation at Ko Ngai is approximately 40 minutes. Koh Ngai
If you reside on such small islands you will often use longtail boats. There are about 9 hotels on the island and they are all bungalow type. Almost every hotel has a beach cafe. There’s not much of a sand strip at all.
The shade from the trees is very close to the sea which is great for those who like to spend all day on the beach. As part of the tour, we don’t spend much time here. Our path now lies to Koh Chueak. Travel time between the islands takes no more than 5 minutes.
On this island you will not be disembarking only snorkeling. The boat crew suggested not wasting time snorkeling and going straight to Ko Kradan. And here’s the reason for that decision. Koh Kradan We were not so lucky, a wave came up near the island.
There are a lot of day tourists here, but they don’t come close to the resorts. Excursion boats and tourists arriving on the island in groups spend most of their time on the south side of the beach. There are a large number of places for good photos.
Closer to the middle of the beach, the area of the hotels begins. Just like on Koh Ngai the hotels on Koh Kradan are bungalows. There is only one small store on this island.
It can get a little crowded during the day but the boats stop for 1-2 hours and then it’s calm again. It mainly serves local cuisine but also has one Italian restaurant. The resorts do not have fences, which emphasizes living on a tropical island.
Due to strong waves, snorkeling was completely canceled for safety reasons. So you can stay here an hour longer. The last location on this tour is Emerald Cave in Koh Muk. Wearing a mask during such a trip is not a bad idea to keep the spray out of your eyes. Koh Muk(Emerald Cave).
Emerald Cave is an 80 meter cave under a huge mountain. It is absolute darkness inside the cave, so all guides have a flashlight on their head. On the reverse side, a hidden lagoon awaits you, with no other entrance. Some time ago, this place was used by sea pirates to hide their treasure.
By the looks of it, it’s a Banded Sea Krait. Due to their flattened tail, these sea creatures are excellent swimmers. This snake is very dangerous as its venom is dozens of times stronger than that of land snakes. Phra Ae Public Health Park, Koh Lanta.
This place is visited on the way to Long Beach. It looks a bit abandoned, but it’s definitely worth spending some time here. Next, we head to the beach itself. Long Beach Despite the number of hotels and people vacationing here you can easily feel that the beach belongs only to you.
There are not many cafes in the middle of the beach. The establishments are mostly located along the edges of the beach. By the way, the length of the beach is about 4 km. Which is great for a carefree relaxation.
And of course you can’t imagine a vacation on a tropical island without a massage. The closer we get to the north end of the beach the more people there become. On some Koh Lanta beaches including this very fine sand. That’s why the wind picks it up with ease.
There are many good cafes on Koh Lanta but they are scattered along the main road. Living Room Cafe & Restaurant is one such place. The cafe positions itself as a breakfast establishment. That’s why the hours are from 8am to 4pm. They have their own bakery.
The prices here are quite reasonable for food of this quality. Only 500 baht for two amazing meals. You could be the lucky owner of a Hello Kitty tuk tuk. Renting such transportation is 700 baht per day, but you can always bargain.
Next we head to View Point on the opposite side of the island. View Point Restaurant From here you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding islands. Also visible from here is Koh Lanta Old Town Pier, this place is a must-see. Now we’re on our way to Old Town. Old Town
The pier looks like the main pier of the island but that’s not really true as Ferries from Phuket and Phi Phi arrive at the pier near Siri Lanta Bridge. It’s a good time to take a look at Old Town Lanta Street Market.
Old Town Lanta Street Market is a small cozy street just 350m long dotted with cafes, bars and stores. There is a tiny Chinese Shrine in the heart of Old Town. Some of the cafes are safely tucked away) There are some very interesting seating solutions.
It’s time to head out to meet the sunset. We purposely drove not on the main road but through the jungle, as you can encounter a pack of wild monkeys here. Beautiful beach The perfect quiet spot to enjoy the sunset. Beyond the cliffs on the left is Sunset rock Viewpoint.
This route can only be used at low tide. We still have a couple of beaches to visit whose popularity is perhaps even higher than the previous ones on Koh Lanta. But first, Coffee to Go. You can find a coffeeshop anywhere. There is very dense development along all the beaches.
So sometimes you’ll have to wade between hotels. Klong Khong Beach It is a beach with a very developed infrastructure. Even in spite of the narrow sandy strip, the number of people does not feel large. In places, there are fragments of coral on the shore. This is also where the first sunbeds appear.
The cafes are located almost point-blank to each other and there are a lot of them. Klong Nin Beach This is most likely the busiest beach on the island. There are so many cafes, bars and lounge areas. The beach strip is wide enough and the sand is clean.
Occasionally you will hear music from the local bars. This beach is considered to have a more youthful audience. There are already quite a few sunbeds on this beach, but it’s still not Phuket. There are not many hotels on the beach at all, most of them are outside the beach across the road.
Of course this is not all the interesting places on the island, the rest you can explore on your own)
