FIRST TIME in PATAGONIA 🏔️ CHILE 🇨🇱 (3 Days on the W Trek)

Welcome back to Next Level adventures and  welcome back to Patagonia in the previous   episode we explored the Argentinian side  and it was absolutely gorgeous however it   did come with a lot of crowds the mountain  Fitzroy is incredible but I’ve never hiked

With this many people [Music] before so  in today’s episode it’s time to leave   the Argentinian side and catch a bus  and head over to Chile and hopefully   we’ll escape the crowds lots of Adventures  in today’s episode including the W Trek which

I will highlight so if you enjoy it please  leave the video a like And subscribe to the [Music] channel okay good morning it’s the next  day it’s 5:30 in the morning I’m surprisingly   quite awake and alert today we’re going to begin a  3-day hike in Torres Del play National Park one of

Patagonia’s most famous one of the most beautiful  national parks and there are three ways that I’ve   seen to do this there is a huge hike called  the O hike which can take about a week then   there’s the W Trek which can take anywhere  between three and 5 days or there is um the

Option to stay in this town and do day trips day  hikes the one I decided on is the middle ground   I decided on the wrek and I’ve decided to do it  over 3 days and this is something that I booked

6 months ago this is one of the only things on  my entire South America trip other than my um   Antartica Expedition that I booked way way way  in advance and this was not cheap so I’ll leave

All of the information of the company that I  used in the description but it cost me $890   for a 3-day hike and it includes um my transport  to the park and back which is why I have to wake

Up early cuz it leaves at 7:00 in the morning it  includes two nights accommodation and I think it   includes one or two breakfast I can’t remember so  basically commodation transport and a bit of food   this price tag I hope it’s going to make this  National Park in this Trail less busy than if

You saw in the previous video in Argentina when  when I hiked up to Fitzroy Mountain Viewpoint   was just rammed and it ruined the whole hike so  hopefully the fact that this hike is is quite   expensive will keep it free of thousands of  people I don’t mind if there’s a few hundred

People spread around the park but oh God I  really hope it’s not the same as last time   because hiking with hundreds of people is not  what anybody wants to do so let’s get cracking [Music] [Music] okay we are here and uh I got to the Welcome  Center they gave me my welcome kit quite nice   actually I get to keep it as well nice water  bottle like a proper metal one a towel which

Is good and a map now we’re in the National Park  we’re in Tores Dell plane and we’re here for the   next 3 days and I thought that I would have to  hike maybe 10 15 km today to get to my Refugio

Which is the name they give for the hotels or  the hosts anyway um I don’t have to walk 15 km   I have to walk um 150 M because it’s right  in front of me so I’m going to go see what

That’s about see if I can check in and then go  on a big hike somewhere okay um this is not why   expected I’ll be honest with you so I I’ve gone  in there a proper little hostel you know with a

Reception they’ve got a bar with beer on tap and  Cocktails and happy hour there’s a fireplace I   think that’s heating the water for the hostel  and I won’t be able to check in until 2:30 so   she said go do your hike and then come back  in the afternoon dinner’s included breakfast

Tomorrow’s included and they give me a pack  lunch for tomorrow’s hike um I I don’t know   I don’t know why I just didn’t expect it to be  so professional or so uh legit I really thought

I was going to be out here in the wilderness um  and you know to be fair I am about to go on an 8   hour 20 km hike up there up into the gorgeous  mountains and uh there’s a map inside and the

Big red outline that is called the O Trek that  goes all the way around the park we’re doing the   wrek so all I want to do is I just want I get  into the countryside I want to hear the bird

Songs I want to feel the wind on my face and  if I get cold I’ve got my jacket if it rains   I’ve got my rain jacket if it gets cold I’ve  got a hat and gloves but if it gets hot I’ve

Also got shorts so I really don’t know what  to expect I just want to get out and on the [Music] trail [Music] about an hour in and I’ve climbed my  first Foothill just uphill quite difficult   and we’ve got our first lovely view  down into the valley oh there’s an

Eagle anyway uh we’ve got a little bit  of flat to enjoy and then we do another   big steep climb so let’s just enjoy  the flat for a bit this is what the   trail is like it’s quite grally there’s  lots of big Stones um so it’s a little

Bit difficult especially when you’re  going up but this flat section here very [Music] straightforward this is  really nice this is gorgeous this   is what I wanted yes there’s a lot  of people on the trail but we’re all   spread apart and this Valley is  just to die for look at [Music] it

Okay Patagonia just keeps on surprising  me so there’s a there’s a huge campsite   up here the tents to be fair look incredible  they’re actually on a little platform and then   they’re underneath all these trees and  you’ve got the river right next to you

Um and then there’s a pub SS beer on tap we  do burgers and quesadillas from 2:00 till 5:   you can buy Wi-Fi there’s people in there  having beers already I think I would have   preferred to stay here but when I booked with  the company all those months ago you don’t get

To choose where you stay they kind of just  put you where there’s room and according to   your preference um but I did think I clicked  on non- camping I think I wanted to have a a

Dorm room or a private room if possible so that’s  probably why they didn’t put me here so that’s my   mistake um because this is you know way more in  touch with nature um and you’ve got a [Music]

Pub I love these Forest sections of any hike not  only do you get the shade but it breaks from the   wind you can really hear the birds uh honestly my  dream is to is to get some land one day somewhere

In the forest somewhere where like this um and  just build a little log habin a little house   a little Barn a little Stone Cottage two bedroom  fireplace nice rugs on the carpet nice comfy sofa

Uh nice kitchen table game of Monopoly on the  day on the desk let me know what your dream is   whether it’s travel related or just life goals let  me know in the comments I’d love to hear [Music]

How gorgeous is this glacial Patagonian River so  you know it’s good and this Forest this Forest is   gorgeous my favorite thing about this Forest and  if you’ve been following this channel for a while   you’ll know for some reason I’m obsessed with moss  especially when it grows on the sides of trees and

The Sun hits it like this isn’t that just gorgeous  I’ve kind of come to accept my fate because I just   thought in my mind I thought I would pretty much  have Patagonia to myself it’s Thanksgiving so

I thought all the Americans would be in America  but they’re not they’re here and every hiker and   and his dog seems to be in Patagonia this time of  year that’s okay we’re just going to embrace the   crowds and embrace meeting people and instead  of having Solitude or lonely walks hopefully

We’ll make friends have a few beers and enjoy the  nature and the people who are enjoying it with me because just look at this place okay this hike has become interesting now  because long gone of the easy Trails through

The beautiful forests we are now scrambling  over a huge Rocky section that goes up and   up and up cuz just looking up it looks like  it’s going to be a challenge even for me I

Mean I’m not exactly Hercules but this is going  to be tricky I’ll try to share with you some of   the best parts and the most tricky Parts but  we’re going to be scrambling which is quite [Music] [Music] fun

[Music] this Boulder section is difficult  my hips oh my hips uh but it’s fun I meet   some people from Seattle and  a big group of uh people from Sheffield [Music] wow this is really nice and you know  there’s people here it’s busy but this is this   is 10 times nicer than Fitzroy in Argentina  where by the time I made it to the summit   and to look upon the mountain I just thought  it was rubbish because it was just thousands

Of people making loads of Racket but here  people are being quiet people are taking   nice pictures the lake is not frozen it’s  not windy I am completely and utterly Blown [Music] Away I just want to pop in and say a big thank you  to today’s video sponsor nordvpn now look I   know it’s 2024 and everybody knows what a VPN  is okay but indulge me for a moment because   only YouTube channels like mine are able to  offer you this exclusive deal so stay tuned

So imagine being able to grab the best flight  prices possible for your future trip and then   being able to enjoy your favorite online content  without border controls or government censorship   and you’re able to do all of that and more with  a secure private connection well these are just

A few of the perks of using nordvpn if you’re  traveling to certain countries you may not be   able to access your media libraries or your social  media platforms or other websites that you would   normally use back home but simply with a flick  of a button nordvp lets you change your location

And your IP address and you’re able to unlock all  of the Comforts from home whether that’s on your   phone or on your computer did you know that when  you’re searching for flights hotels maybe even   car rentals those companies can actually change  the prices that they offer you depending on where

Your computer or where your phone is located so  by simply changing your location before you start   searching for these deals using nordvpn sometimes  you can actually find cheaper deals and then you   can use that extra money that you’ve saved on  things like Hotel upgrades or just buying some

More yummy delicious local Cuisine so what is  the exclusive deal that we can offer you well   creators like me who are signed with nordvpn we’re  able to using the link in the description give you   four bonus months for free on anyone who buys  a 2-year plan and nordvpn back it up if you’re

Not convinced they are offering you a 30-day  money back guarantee this offer is exclusive   and limited so make sure to use that link as soon  as you can if you are in the marketplace for a VPN   enjoy those four bonus months for free and enjoy  secure internet access when you’re on the road

Buas good morning and it’s a great morning I’m  feeling so happy the only downside is the weather   is shocking like it is really bad you can see the  mountain that we went up yesterday is just covered

In rain and it’s drizzling as I speak and it’s a  lot colder and uh the weather I think is going to   get worse today and tomorrow apparently so that’s  a [Music] shame the first part of today’s hike we

Actually cover where we went yesterday instead  of turning right to head up into the rain and   up into the mountains we’re going to continue  straight but because of the rain you can see   everybody’s very fluorescent colored backpack  cover and you can see see them snaking up and

Going up into the valley and into the forest and  the rain is lashing down but luckily the mountain   seems to be holding most of the rain today the  weather’s rubbish but that doesn’t really matter

For me because I’m not going to an epic Viewpoint  we just got a 16 km hike relatively flat around   the lake to Franz which is where I’m camping  or staying tonight um but yeah I just feel for them [Music] 2 by two this really is Disneyland for hikers

Look at that isn’t that absolutely gorgeous  that beautiful Blue Lake the rolling green   and black mountains I’ve never seen  mountains move and fold and curve like that and we have the fire bush every so often  just igniting a little bit of color into the

Trail the wind has gone I think we’re sheltered  at the moment and there’s lots of hikers taking   pictures this is gorgeous this is definitely  really really really enjoyable regardless of   the weather and completely quiet nowhere  near as busy as yesterday it’s amazing the

Difference it makes to your hiking experience  when it’s relatively just you I don’t know why   I think we all we all think of hiking as a  solitary quiet experience um and the crowds   take that element away I suppose so day two  even though the weather’s kind of crappy I’m

Enjoying it even more than yesterday look  at these views this is gorgeous absolutely beautiful Bumped into my buddies that I met last night hey not him these guys this is a beautiful part of the hike I think  the weather has just completely improved look at this Looks like we have to climb another Foothill up  here and over the other side and I can see rain   again and the rain is coming you know I thought  today was going to be flat but it’s been far from

Flat we just go up and up and up and over  and over and over little Hill after little   Hill after little Hill I think I’ve probably  done about 10 or 12 already as you’re walking

Along the lake it’s so stunning and it changes  and you have the weather it just kind of uh it   doesn’t make it so destroying but it doesn’t seem  to ever want to end but somewhere near the end of

That lake is my accommodation for tonight and  we get to walk across this beautiful Granite   surface with this epic view there are about five  or six huge birds flying past me and they’re all   just flying around I’m going to hang back here  because I can see a huge amount of rain in in

The valley in in front of me so I just want  to stand and wait and hope that another one   flies right by so you guys can get a feeling  of how beautiful and how big this bird really Is okay so talk about timing I came around  the corner after looking at those beautiful   birds and then the rain just started to  get really bad and as I turn that corner   a Refugio complete with beer warm food this  is not where I’m staying um this is where my

Friends are staying so I’m just going to stay  here maybe an hour maybe 2 hours and just wait   for this storm to blow over this is a rain  jacket but it’s not really that waterproof

Anymore cuz I’ve had this a few years so I don’t  want to do the last three kilometers in the   pissing rain so I’m just going to hopefully  wait wait it out and then get back on the [Music] trail okay the weather window has  appeared and it was getting very comfortable

In that Refugio made some friends had a  couple of beers and I could quite happily   sit there for a few hours sipping a few  cans but we’ve got 3 kilm and two hours   left to get to Camp Franz which is where I’m  staying as you can see the sun’s threatening

To break through but as today has proven it  goes from hot to cold to wet every few hours   so I don’t want to risk it I just want to  get there um dry if possible so 2 hours few

More Hills few more kilometers and we’ll be  there look we’re right next to the water now listen beautiful peaceful lovely [Music] how   pretty is this the trail now goes  along this beach this pebbl Stone Beach day two has turned  out to be nothing short of a

Joy the way the water glistens that  first layer of the black Pebble rocks   is extremely satisfying it’s just Sunkissed by  that sun that wants to creep through the clouds today this is the highlight of the hike for me [Music]

[Music] good morning day three Third Day  final day here on the wrek last night had   a great dinner here at the Franz Refugio had  a couple of beers met some more great people   and then slept nice and cozy in our little dome  which was really warm because they have a little

Fireplace and protected Us Against the Wind and  the rain last night and I slept fantastic just   woke up had a nice breakfast and coffee and I’m  just sort of looking at this map that’s on my

Little pack lunch that they give you trying to  decide what to do today because as you can see   we were in Central and the first first day we  walked along and then up all the way up to the

Tores zel plan Viewpoint then yesterday we walked  all the way from Central past chos which is where   I had that beer and then the weather hit us and  then we walked all the way to francz that’s where

I stayed last night today I have to go down to  pan Grande by 6:00 to get a bus no sorry a boat   and then get a bus back to town so I’ve got the  whole day to kill so I’m thinking I might go up

To Italiano and and then up to the French glacia  and then back down to Italiano and then down and   along to the to the area where the granday boat  is it’s not technically going to be the full W I

Think you need 4 days really of hiking to complete  the W and get all the way up to the gray and then   back down to the boat you can see why it’s called  the W right because of that black line Looks Like

A W and then that big line that goes all the way  around that’s the O hike so that’s the difference   between the two so yeah I think that’s the  plan so let’s get [Music] cracking this is

The valley that I’m going up going to go check  out that [Music] glacia [Music] I made it to the   glacial Lookout Point and uh it’s beautiful  this’s this huge wall of rock in this Moody   Misty Cloud there’s a little glacia and then a  big glacier down at the bottom but I’m going to

I’m going to call it here on the W part there  is another 2 and 1/2 km to the British Lookout   Point um but I’ve got to go so it’s been 5 km to  get here I’ve got to go back 5 km and then I’ve

Got another eight kilm to get to the boat so I’m  just going to take it easy and make sure I get to   the uh boat in time make sure I have a place to  stop for lunch and just uh just relax and enjoy

The last little half a day still got six hours  of hiking to go so think we’ll call it [Music] here so that concludes my 3 days doing the wrek  and my time in Patagonia this was the final video

Of the series from South America I will be coming  back Patagonia overall was is absolutely gorgeous   one of the most beautiful parts of the world just  brace for the crowds this place is not a Hidden

Gem by any stretch so if you are looking to avoid  the crowds maybe check out the dolomites playlist   I went there in Europe in Italy and equally is  beautiful but without the crowds so check out   those videos as well check out my Swiss Alps  Series where I hiped across the Swiss Alps I

Do love to get lost into the mountains and to  embrace nature so if you’ve enjoyed this video   subscribe for more because we’re heading back  to Thailand for some Adventures for the rest   of the year so thanks for watching I hope you  enjoyed this episode and I’ll see you [Music] soon

  1. Looks like a great experience hiking and the views are "WOW". What a great concept a Pub in the middle of nowhere on a hike. Like they made it just for you Paddy. Thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to your bike trip.

  2. What an incredible series Paddy! You kept a stiff upper lip through every curve tossed at you! That did not go unnoticed Mate. Finding the joy and beauty is everything and you are radiating that message to us all. The best videography and production value yet. This was a very inspirational series Paddy. I hope you are very proud of the outcome from your very important and masterful work. You should definitely take a victory lap for this! Thanks for sharing it with us.

  3. Hiya Paddy. Love your document wallet. Very nice.
    Gorgeous views on your journey.
    Stunning trek.
That campsite was very nice. I loved the raised tents.
You do make me giggle with the things you say.
Wow. The trees. Spectacular. A log cabin sounds perfect.
Mine is in the process of sorting. Selling up and moving somewhere more remote.
More space for my family and grandbabies.
    Get more dogs. LOL.
Thought you were going to break out in song then. He he.
    Beer and Burger. Very nice.
    Disney land for hiking.
It may be raining. But you are so right. It is absolutely gorgeous. The lake is stunning.
Beautiful footage. The birds are fantastic.
    Gorgeous beach.
Loved these adventures. Great video. Brilliant series.
Looking forward to the next one.
Wishing you a great week. Paddy.

  4. Just saw the Torres del Paine! It’s amazing and more grand in person! Also doing chile side and trip now

  5. Great video, nice to watch on my break! My dream? Film with Paddy Doyle!! haha! Probably to visit Antarctica or see the Northern Lights too.

  6. 900 dollars for a 3 day hike that includes sleeping quarter and transport is a complete scam no matter how beautiful the scenery is.

  7. Like it! Like your comment on the pebblestones, the new sound of new pebbles! You're a nature man!

  8. I love trees and forests, you passed through some great forest scenery, I liken trees to soldiers. Loved those pubs in the middle of nowhere so warm inviting and cosy.

  9. you should do the El camino de Santiago. I think that would be an interesting series of videos.

  10. I've absolutely loved this South America series, Paddy. I did the Lake District from Puerto Varas by Volcano Osorno in Chile across to Bariloche in Argentina. Some of the most beautiful range of mountains and lakes that I have ever seen. Thank you for bringing back those memories. This was beautiful. Cheers! 🍻

  11. What a blast of a trip this was Paddy. We've enjoyed this very much during our holiday in Thailand 🇹🇭🙏
Can't wait to see you on a bike through Thailand.
Greetings Danny and Wilma ( we met in the Avani AoNang) From The Netherlands 😎😘🍺

  12. 👏 Happy you had that much more peaceful experience on the Chilean side… and while the tents looked awesome, the hostel looked pretty great? Stunning! Cheers!

  13. Fantastic video, Paddy!👏I'm happy you enjoyed Torres del Paine National Park, one of our greatest treasures! The birds you saw at 20:50 were condors (vultur gryphus), world's largest flying birds and Chile's national symbol (it appears in our coat of arms along with the huemul deer). Keep the awesome videos coming! 🙌

  14. Paddy, great video as usual! You really should consider adding the British Columbia landscape both on one of the north/western mainland or Vancouver Island as well as our east coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. Spring or early Fall being the most ideal away from the masses. HOWEVER, my initial reason for a note is a question; you seldom mention any concerns regarding dangers with the potential wildlife encounters? Are there no coyotes/bears/wolves etc…..curious?

  15. Torres del Paine is pronounced: "Tor-rays-del-pine-ay"

As always, love your down-to-earth narrative and insight that other vloggers don't have.

  16. This was once again some quality s**t, I just loved your 3 days in Patagonia exept the crowds of course!

  17. Patagonia is a milestone that I didnt achieve yet. And its funny cause I live way near there than you. But I wanna go in the next years and I'll definitely watch this series again to get inspiration

  18. Having been to the Dolomites and wanting to go to Patagonia, your video definitely puts a perspective on those two places! I would definitely say that there are a few spots in the Dolomites that get very busy, but because it's so much bigger and 1000x more trails than the W/O trek, it feels much more remote.

  19. Great scenery. Not so great crowds everywhere. After seeing this my interest in Patagonia has waned. So sad.

  20. You can re-apply the water proof coating to your jacket, Paddy. Just need to wash and dry it, then apply a DWR spray all over

  21. Every time I watch these videos, I feel that I'm there with you. One day, I hope to start my travel content creator journey, and maybe we can do a trip? LOL wishful thinking

  22. Sorry Paddy but was this content intended for seniors? Watched every single of your vids but not sure im feeling this level. ❤

  23. Thank you for showing the real Patagonia with all the tourists. Im 100% put off from going. The scenery is outstanding, but the crouds really not make it worth it, unfortunately.

  24. We really enjoy your style, thanks for the series. We're not the three-day hike kind of people, but we enjoyed watching you do it. 😂

  25. For those considering going but put off by the price tag, you can do this for much less (less than $50/day) if you book directly with the Refugios and carry your gear.

  26. which month you hiked Torres del Paine NP? I'll be there in mid-April and was told it'll be VERY COLD AND WET and not suitable for even day hike to Mirador Base Hike…very disappointed 😞

  27. If people want to avoid the crowds, go to Patagonia in winter (June-Aug). You will feel like you have it all to yourself. But be warned, you will experience the worst weather you have ever seen! That's the trade-off. Thirty years ago, Patagonia was still mostly wilderness. Really sucks to see the Disneyfication of it. 8 bn people on the planet means less and less wilderness, unfortunately.

  29. One of my life goals is to visit a hundred countries! A bit arbitrary when in reality I just wanna see as much of the world as I can!
