どうか皆様のご協力をお願いします【令和6年能登半島地震/復興支援】
Hello everyone. We are recording this video to ask for your support. This is related to reconstruction support for the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake. First of all, I would like to express my deepest sympathies to everyone affected by the earthquake. The campground “Camping Spot Hamano” in Suzu City was also damaged by this earthquake.
This is the campsite we visited during our trip around Japan. Suzu City is located at the tip of the Noto Peninsula. Water supply continues to be cut off, and reconstruction efforts are delayed. In the midst of all this, Mr. Hamano decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign for reconstruction.
We’re filming a video to support them. In this video, we will explain the details of crowdfunding. Apart from that, we have decided to sell charity goods in our online store. All proceeds from this charity goods will be donated to the campground. All proceeds from this video will also be donated to Mr. Hamano.
If you live in Japan, please support through crowdfunding or charity goods. Just watching this video until the end will be your support, so please watch it until the end. 1. About Camping Spot Hamano 2. Current situation including disaster damage situation 3. About crowdfunding and charity goods
I would like to explain this in order. First, let me tell you about how we met Camping Spot Hamano. We visited the campsite in May 2021, when we were still traveling around Japan. When I visited the Noto Peninsula, there were many places with very beautiful scenery.
I wanted to go camping while looking at this view, so I searched for it on Google Maps and found this campsite by chance. So I made a reservation last minute, and they kindly accepted. When I actually visited the campsite, I was instantly captivated by the scenery.
Camping Spot Hamano is a campground run by a married couple. They have renovated the garden themselves and created a wonderful campsite. We can see the beautiful sea of Noto from the campsite. And we can camp on the very beautiful lawn that the owner himself took care of. It was a very impressive campsite.
We can also see the Tateyama Mountain Range across the sea. There are only a few places in Japan where we can camp in such a spectacular view. The video is also uploaded to YouTube, so please check it out.
Among the campgrounds we visited while traveling around Japan, it really left an impression on me. I chose this campsite as one of the 5 best. We started traveling around Japan in April 2021. This was the campsite I visited about a month after I left.
Even though it was early in the trip, I was confident that this would be one of the top campsites on the trip. I thought it was a really nice campground. I currently live in Hokkaido, far away from the campsite. We always talked about going back there someday, even though it was far away.
In addition to this earthquake, the Noto Peninsula experienced earthquakes in June 2022 and May 2023. I was worried about Mr. Hamano every time I saw the earthquake news. During the past two earthquakes, Mr. Hamano posted on Instagram to report that he was safe.
Even during this earthquake, the first thing that came to mind was Camping Spot Hamano. I thought about contacting them right away, but I didn’t think it would help. For the time being, I waited for Mr. Hamano’s Instagram post for a few days. During the past two earthquakes, he posted immediately.
This time he didn’t post for a few days and I was really worried. A few days later, he finally posted and I contacted him. His post said that, fortunately, Mr. Hamano’s family and the guests who were at the campsite at the time were all safe.
At that time, we contacted them and asked them to let us know if there was anything we could do to help. After that, I didn’t hear from him for a while. However, he continued to post updates on his current situation on Instagram. I checked it every time.
I’ve been wondering if there’s anything we can do. Then, a month later, they contacted us. They had been working hard toward reconstruction for a month after the earthquake. However, it is difficult for the couple alone to rebuild. They want to rebuild the campground, but there are various problems including a lack of manpower.
They said they didn’t know what to do. The actual email said, “Please help me.” We could see their urgency, so we contacted them immediately. And we thought together about what to do from now on. The topic of crowdfunding came up during this process.
So, we decided to do our best to back it up. Mr. and Mrs. Hamano faced some conflict before deciding to use crowdfunding. This is because there are still water outages and aftershocks. They were worried whether they would really be able to recover from this situation.
However, they still had a strong desire to move forward and rebuild the campsite. We also wanted to support them. Mr. Hamano also operates a Japanese tile shop. Suzu on the Noto Peninsula is lined with many houses with distinctive tiled roofs. Some of you may have seen it on the news.
However, some of those houses collapsed due to the earthquake, and some had tiles falling off. Mr. and Mrs. Hamano are currently working hard to repair the tiled roof. In such a busy situation, they decided to launch crowdfunding. So we assisted them. Next, I will explain the damage and current situation at the campground.
As a result of this earthquake, cracks are occurring throughout the campsite. It used to be a very beautiful campsite with grass. But the ground is cracked and the situation is miserable. When we visited, the owner was diligently taking care of the lawn.
In between his work at the tile shop, he worked diligently to maintain the lawn. So the current situation is very sad. Camping Spot Hamano’s restrooms are really clean. It was so clean that I couldn’t believe it was a campsite toilet. It was Mr. Hamano’s proud toilet.
The top of the toilet building also tilted significantly. Although it was not completely destroyed, it now needs to be rebuilt. The campground has several buildings. Fortunately, the administration building was unharmed. However, some buildings were completely destroyed. Since the campsite was right next to the ocean, it was also damaged by the tsunami.
The beach was very beautiful. However, it is now filled with washed up garbage and tiles that fell from buildings. In Suzu City, where the campground is located, over 90% of buildings were damaged, and 30% were completely destroyed. Many people still cannot live in their own homes.
They are in shelters or forced to live in remote areas. Government-led volunteers have already begun to be accepted. However, there is a shortage of accommodation facilities in Suzu City. Furthermore, there are various restrictions on volunteers, and progress is not going well.
Volunteers are currently staying at accommodations in Kanazawa and traveling to Suzu by bus. As a result, they are only able to work for four hours a day. This is because there are not enough accommodation facilities. There are many people who want to volunteer.
But currently there are no accommodation facilities that can accept them. Therefore, we would like to rebuild the campsite as soon as possible and accept volunteers. I believe that if we do that, the recovery will proceed more quickly. Also, they would like to accept general visitors as a campsite.
If this happens, more people will use Suzu’s supermarkets and restaurants. We believe this will lead to regional revitalization. In fact, Mr. Hamano has already resumed accepting guests. However, given the current situation, they have not made any public announcements. They accept volunteers and campers who would like to stay overnight to support.
Currently, they are only accepting guests who have made a request and understand the current situation. Mr. Hamano hopes to rebuild the campground and have many guests come back. Not only that, but they also want to serve as a base for regional recovery. For that purpose, we launched a crowdfunding campaign.
Next, we will introduce the details of crowdfunding and our charity goods. Crowdfunding will start on February 24th when this video is released. The crowdfunding period is scheduled to end at the end of April. Please check the crowdfunding page for details. Mr. Hamano’s thoughts on the campground and reconstruction are written.
All funds raised will be used for campsite repairs. Restoring a campsite takes a lot of time and effort. And of course it will take a lot of money, so I hope that many people will support them. Crowdfunding returns include stickers, coffee, and campsite accommodation tickets.
We also created our own charity goods to make it easier for our viewers to support them. Charity goods will be sold at our online shop. (Shipping is only within Japan) There are 3 types of charity goods. We designed it based on the scenery we saw at the campsite.
Sticker, mini towel, and Japanese hand towel. The sale period is from 8pm on February 24th to March 10th. If you purchase all 3 types, you will receive a mini pouch as a gift. Charity goods are made to order and will be shipped sequentially from late March.
All proceeds from charity goods will be donated to the campground. We would appreciate your support in conjunction with crowdfunding. For some reason, some people may find it difficult to crowdfund or purchase charity goods. That’s why I decided to donate all the proceeds from this video.
You can also support us by watching this video or sending us a “Super Thanks”. Please check the description box for details. Mr. Hamano’s purpose for this crowdfunding campaign is not just for their own benefit. They have a strong desire to serve the Noto Peninsula, Suzu City, and his guests.
In fact, many buildings around the campsite have collapsed. Mr. Hamano is worried that many people will leave Noto because of this. He hopes that by keeping the campground alive, it will be an opportunity for many people to visit Noto.
When we visited, we stopped at Camp Spot Hamano on our way around the Noto Peninsula. The entire Noto Peninsula is a wonderful place. Therefore, we hope for the recovery of not only the campground but also the entire surrounding town that was affected by the disaster.
We would also like to visit the Noto Peninsula and help. However, we also have work and it is far away, so it is difficult to go there right away. But we will definitely visit Noto when we get the chance.
I thought that what we can do right now is to record a video like this and share it with as many people as possible. So if you watch this video, please share it with your family and friends. Lastly, I received a message from Mr. Hamano. I’ll read it.
One month has passed since the Noto earthquake on New Year’s Day 2024. Every day was filled with anxiety as they could not even imagine their future lives, let alone the restoration of the campground. With the warm encouragement of the campers, we decided to rebuild the campsite.
Although we decided on crowdfunding, we didn’t have the power to make it a reality. What came to mind were “Kenji and Akari” who kindly introduced us to our campsite. My message “Please help me” was immediately responded to. I felt really relieved when they listened to me about my anxieties, worries, and current feelings.
We were most happy to receive advice and suggestions based on an understanding of what was important to us. Little by little, we are beginning to move towards recovery. I hope that one day we can drink coffee together at the campsite while looking at the beautiful scenery. Thank you so much.
We also hope that the viewers of “Kenji to Akari” will learn about the current situation at the campground and cooperate with us in its restoration. Thank you. We received such a message. Even now, Mr. Hamano and his colleagues are working hard toward reconstruction. We ask that you all lend us your support.
We sincerely pray for the earliest possible recovery of the affected areas, including the Noto Peninsula. Thank you for watching until the end and for your support. Proceeds from this video will be donated to “Camping Spot Hamano” and will be used to repair damaged campgrounds.
Please help spread the video and subscribe to the channel.
