The first exhibition of the Tottori Sand Dunes Sand Museum was held in Fukube-cho, Tottori City in 2006, and has continued to this day.
This is the only art museum in Japan that exhibits sculptures made from sand. The first to fourth exhibitions were held outdoors, but from the 5th exhibition in 2012, it reopened as the world’s first sand sculpture museum, and continues to this day.
