The castle was built by Yoshiharu Horio, a famous feudal lord in the early Edo period, and later served as the center of the Matsue domain. The Matsue Castle castle tower is one of the 12 remaining castle towers in Japan. This is a valuable wooden structure that remains from the Edo period
