[Japan’s Most Beautiful Village] Walk around Saiko Healing Village Nenba in heavy snow
Hello. Today I came to the local “Saiko Iyashinosato Nenba”. I was planning to shoot the Kawazu cherry blossoms in the next video, but it snowed heavily, so I came to shoot the video in a hurry. I wanted to take a video of the snow piled up on tree branches.
This year, we didn’t have much snow, but it finally did. Snowplows are stationed on major roads during the winter. Snowplows will probably be out for the first time this year. Fujikawaguchiko Town is not an area that experiences heavy snowfall, but it responds very quickly to snow removal.
Even if it snows, you won’t have much trouble driving your car. Of course, residents’ cars have studless tires during the winter. Heavy snowfall always occurs every year, so no one neglects to prepare for it. In this way, we can prepare for natural disasters to some extent.
But one day, the real disaster will suddenly strike. Here in Nenba, I came here 58 years ago. After a long period of rain, a typhoon came and suddenly a debris flow engulfed this village. It was in the early hours of September 58 years ago. . . This village disappeared in an instant.
This village was once said to be “the most beautiful in Japan.” The villagers lived a prosperous life by taking advantage of the village’s natural resources and engaged in forestry, charcoal burning, sericulture, and dairy farming. Thanks to the rich nature of the village, they lived a richer life than other villages.
Flowers were planted in the garden, and advanced maintenance was carried out ahead of other villages in search of a better life. This very small village in the countryside was richer and more beautiful than anywhere else. 18 years ago, that beautiful village was rebuilt and “Saiko Iyashinosato Nenba” was created.
At this facility, you can experience a variety of things in the original Japanese landscape. I have come here dozens of times. At first, there were almost no customers, so I was really worried. Over the past few years, many foreign tour buses have stopped here, which makes me very happy.
Let’s also take a look at the charcoal grill hut. This is where they cut wood and used a kiln to make charcoal. I don’t usually come to the charcoal hut, but today I wanted to be near the snow-covered trees, so I came all the way here.
From now on, I will be seeing a charcoal hut for the first time in a while. . . Long ago, wood was burned here to make charcoal. The entrance fee to this facility is 500 yen, and parking is free. You can probably come by rental bicycle from Kawaguchiko Station.
If you’re coming to Lake Kawaguchi for sightseeing, you’ll definitely have a lot of fun and enjoy a variety of experiences if you take a short trip and come here. I always look forward to the summer festival here. There are nostalgic food stalls from the past, and fireworks are set off.
This facility closes at 5 p.m., but on the day of the summer festival, it stays open until 8:30 p.m., and entry is free after 5 p.m.! Last year, the path was illuminated with a fantastic atmosphere.
Photographers were holding their cameras, aiming for a composition of Mt. Fuji, fireworks, a thatched roof, and a woman wearing a kimono. I forgot to mention, if the weather is good, you can see Mt. Fuji from this facility. If you come to Lake Kawaguchi, please come here.
If you say that Shirakawa-go is a place that is easier to get to than Shirakawa-go, you may be offended by Shirakawa-go, but you can experience the good old, unspoiled scenery in any season. On sunny days, you can see many foreigners wearing kimonos on this bridge.
This is a photo spot where you can take photos with Mt. Fuji in the background. In this building, you can try wearing a kimono for 2,000 yen per person. Become a ninja or a Sengoku warlord and walk around the facility and eat. . .
It’s close to Lake Kawaguchi, so be sure to stop by here and try out the various experiences. If you come to Lake Kawaguchi, in addition to this facility, there is another place that I would like to recommend. That is Kawaguchiko Muse Museum/Atae Yuuki Museum, located on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi.
Dolls made by a creative doll artist named Yuuki Atae are on display. The admission fee is 600 yen, but you can see dolls that will make you feel warm. With the dolls, you can feel the original Japanese landscape like this “Saiko Iyashinosato Nenba”.
These are dolls that you should definitely see, even if you pay the price. Here’s some great information: February 23rd is Mt. Fuji Day, so you can enter for free. On February 23rd, Mt. Fuji Day, there are apparently several places other than the Muse Museum that you can enter for free.
Hina dolls are displayed. Anyone can play the piano, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone play it. I think the person playing it was probably from Taiwan. I realized once again that music is the common language of the world.
I would like to hear more about what kind of songs they will play and how they will perform, but I have to go home soon. I’m sure I’ll have to shovel snow to park my car.
The snow-covered trees in my garden were beautiful, so today I came to Saiko Iyashinosato Nenba to check it out. Today’s video is just walking, but someday I’d like to make a video of all the different experiences I’ve had. I’d also like to try out a composition of Mt. Fuji, fireworks, and thatched roofs.
The Sony camera I use isn’t dust-proof or splash-proof, so today I’m using my old GoPro camera for the first time in a while. GoPro cameras can even shoot underwater videos. A sturdy camera that is resistant to rain. I have only wiped the lens twice so far today to remove water droplets.
For some reason, I like this quiet shrine. I’ve been shooting videos non-stop today. It’s easy to shoot videos with a GoPro camera, but next time I go to Kawazu-zakura, I plan to use a Sony camera. I feel like Sony cameras record sound better.
In my videos, I don’t use background music, so I prefer the sound to be clearer. You can also take videos of the cherry blossoms illuminated at night, and if possible, I would like to use a Sony camera.
It seems like there are some newer cameras out there that are easier to use, but I’m planning to try out a Sony camera a little more. I approached it thinking it was a fresh flower, but it turned out to be an artificial flower.
If you are interested in Saiko Iyashinosato Nemba after watching this video, please check out the link to the official website, which will be posted in the description. I think it’s a well-made website. I also used this as a reference when creating subtitles. This water wheel and tree look nice. . .
However, the water wheel is broken and does not move. I took a video non-stop and came back around the entrance. I would like to continue taking videos of beautiful nature such as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, but today’s snowy trees were so beautiful. . . I’m glad I came.
