Himeji Castle Main castle tower and 7 other buildings
Himeji Castle in Himeji City, Hyogo It is said to have originated from a small castle built by Sadanori Akamatsu in 1346. After that, castle lords such as the Kodera clan and the Kuroda clan took over. Hideyoshi also joined during the attack on Mori. The current castle was built by Terumasa Ikeda in 1608.
Even Terumasa, who was a master of castle construction, took eight years to complete. Four connecting corridors connect four castle towers arranged on all sides. All eight buildings are designated as national treasures. The main castle tower has a five-story structure on the outside and seven floors on the inside. The height including the stone wall is 46m. It is said to have started at Shitenno Seiin Temple, which was built by Prince Shotoku. The main hall was built in 1397. Eclectic style with gambrel construction with 7 girders and 6 beams.
