Dishui Lake is an artificial lake in Shanghai. It is located in the center of Lingang New Town in Pudong New Area. Its area is about the same as that of West Lake and its shape is approximately a circle.

It was excavated for the construction of Yangshan Deepwater Port, providing 7 square kilometers of land for the entire project, and was officially filled with water in October 2003.

One end of Dishui Lake is connected to the Dazhi River through a diversion river to obtain water source, and the other end is connected to the East China Sea through a sluice.

There is a scenic strip with an average width of 80 meters along the lake, and there are three islands distributed in the lake.

Dishui Lake in Shanghai covers an area of ​​5.56 million square meters, is circular in shape, has a diameter of about 2.5 kilometers, an average water depth of 3.7 meters, and a deepest depth of 6.2 meters. The water source is fresh water from the Huangpu River.

The design concept of Dishui Lake comes from the original master plan for Lingang New City: a drop of water from the sky falls into the sea, creating ripples and forming a lake wherever it falls. Dishui Lake was excavated in June 2002 and completed after 15 months.

There are three islands with different positions in Dishui Lake – North Island, West Island and South Island.

The North Island is known as the “Entertainment Island” and is an amusement park with marine characteristics; the West Island is a business and tourist accommodation area with two high-star hotels; the South Island is a water leisure and entertainment island with yacht clubs, yachts Harbor and other facilities.

There is also a stainless steel sculpture “Water Drop” in the center of the lake, symbolizing the origin of Dishui Lake.

There is a landscape belt around the Dishui Lake, which is 60 meters wide and covers an area of ​​500,000 square meters. It is planted with various flowers, plants and trees, as well as some sculptures and pavilions.

On the west bank of Dishui Lake is the China Maritime Museum, which is the first national maritime museum and displays the history, culture, technology and art of Chinese navigation.

There is Nanhuizui Seaview Park at the southeast end of Dishui Lake, which is the most southeastern part of Shanghai’s land area. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Hangzhou Bay and the Yangtze River Estuary.

Dishui Lake is a national-level water conservancy scenic spot and the ecological business card of Lingang New City. It is an important public activity platform for tourists and citizens to enjoy water, leisure and entertainment.

Dishui Lake also often hosts some international and domestic events and cultural activities, such as the Tour de France, World Jet Ski Championships, Spartan Race, Dishui Lake Triathlon, New Year Fireworks Show in Lingang New Area, Lingang New Area Welcome Run, Dishui Lake Sunshine Music Festival, Shanghai Lingang Ocean Festival, etc.
