THE REGENT Phu Quoc, Vietnam šŸ‡»šŸ‡³ć€4K Resort Tour & Review怑Absolutely SUBLIME!

There is a significant part of me that wondersĀ  if what I saw and experienced was actually real,Ā Ā  because it was simply that good. Join meĀ  for this incredible tour of Vietnam’s newĀ Ā  best hotel, the Regent. Welcome to Phu Quoc. For those of you that are new to the channel,Ā Ā

Thanks for stopping by, my name isĀ  Kevin and I am the Flip Flop Traveller.Ā  I think the internet is in need of a wholeĀ  lot more honesty when it comes to airlineĀ Ā  and hotel content and that’s why I’m here- I’mĀ  just here to be real. I make trip reports andĀ Ā

High end hotel reviews and I always self fund myĀ  trips. In fact, you’ll always be able to find theĀ Ā  exact price I paid in the description below.Ā  I don’t alert any companies I’ll be filmingĀ Ā  because I want as normal of an experience asĀ  possible. So, in this video today, I’m goingĀ Ā

To give you nothing more than my real, honest andĀ  unbiased opinion based on my personal experience.Ā  Phu Quoc is a weird island, I’m just gonna beĀ  honest. Ten years ago, it really didn’t existĀ Ā  on the world stage, then the doors of investmentĀ  were swung open and what happens all to often inĀ Ā

Developing markets like this one, happened here.Ā  Resort development outpaced infrastructure.Ā Ā  Tackiness became the new normal and of courseĀ  Covid didn’t help any of this. But, let me tellĀ Ā  you one thing that is helping this island, itĀ  is this resort. I honestly can’t remember theĀ Ā

Last time I’ve been so sure of something. After driving through the well maintainedĀ Ā  development you’ll be led up a driveway takingĀ  you to the discreet primary entrance. This isĀ Ā  a hotel which in my book has one veryĀ  specific claim to fame, since it openedĀ Ā

In 2022. It’s the only resort of this caliberĀ  that I’ve never heard a bad word spoken about.Ā Ā  For that reason- the glowing reception andĀ  reviews from top to bottom left to right,Ā Ā

I had my skeptical cap on as I arrived. Oh God wasĀ  I wrong and was everyone else oh so right. This isĀ Ā  southeast Asia’s best new large resort, period . I’ve never experienced a property that was soĀ Ā

Absolutely over the top, but at the same time feltĀ  so incredibly down to earth. There are no cornersĀ Ā  cut, but there’s also no pretension. The serviceĀ  and the facilities are absolutely flawless,Ā Ā  but it’s actually a good value. This hotel bringsĀ  a level of fresh sophistication and modern charmĀ Ā

To Vietnam that I genuinely do not think hasĀ  existed before. This place is my new personalĀ Ā  favorite resort on earth. I was actually planningĀ  my return with family, while I was still there.Ā  This brings me to my first big point. IfĀ  this is the direction that Regent is going,Ā Ā

I am here for it. You may know that RegentĀ  Hotels have a history that goes back to 1971Ā Ā  in Honolulu and over the years has perhapsĀ  been most famous for it’s Hong Kong hotel,Ā Ā  which was well regarded as the world’s best hotelĀ  in the early 80s. In 2018, IHG Hotel group boughtĀ Ā

51% of Regent. That stake will increase to 100%Ā  by 2026 and in the mean time they’re not wastingĀ Ā  a second while reinventing this iconic brand. Some of you may have seen my absolutelyĀ Ā  underwhelming Regent Taipei video a few monthsĀ  ago- well it’s clear that that is yesterday’sĀ Ā

Regent and Phu Quoc is tomorrows. There areĀ  currently around 10 Regents in operation withĀ Ā  more than forty in the pipeline. IHG wellĀ  aware that they have been missing from theĀ Ā  luxury hotel scene for far too long. NowĀ  that I’ve stayed here, I cannot wait forĀ Ā

The new Bali property to open soon. But that’s enough about the brand,Ā Ā  let’s get into this place itself. Everything during my stay relatedĀ Ā  to service was seamless. It’s one of those placesĀ  where within moments of arrival, everyone in theĀ Ā

Hotel will already be learning your name, but youĀ  won’t know it until in close contact. The serviceĀ Ā  here has a level of intimacy with lots of curatedĀ  details that will make the room count difficultĀ Ā

To believe. In total, the hotel has 179 suitesĀ  housed in the two towers, one of which we are inĀ Ā  now plus an additional 123 villas blanketingĀ  the property between the towers and beach.Ā  The hotel was designed by BLINK Design GroupĀ  and seamlessly combines a few different designĀ Ā

Languages. Modern East Asian minimalism,Ā  traditional Vietnamese Gian Nha design cues,Ā Ā  lush tropical surrounds in every directionĀ  and pops of saturated and vibrant colorsĀ Ā  and textures. Case in point, this beautifulĀ  crystal glass artwork by Czech group LASVIT.Ā  Flanking either side of the corridor weĀ  just passed through are the reception areaĀ Ā

And the lobby lounge. Check in took placeĀ  entirely in the lobby lounge whereas checkĀ Ā  out took place here in the reception area. If you noticed as we drove up the driveway,Ā Ā  we went up quite a steep incline- I thinkĀ  this was a brilliant design idea whichĀ Ā

Brings the lobby off the ground and givesĀ  the outdoor views a sense of seclusion.Ā  Just across in the gorgeous sunkenĀ  living room you’ll be welcomed with aĀ Ā  refreshing Iced tea as well as a dipped madeleine. In the reception area and here in the Lobby LoungeĀ Ā

We can see the very modern interpretation ofĀ  the Vietnamese Gian Nha style which is known forĀ Ā  creating spaces around or adjacent to beautifullyĀ  landscaped courtyards- connecting different partsĀ Ā  of the house, or in this case, the hotel. Here’s your friendly reminder to click thatĀ Ā

Thumbs up button, subscribe to the channelĀ  and share this video with friends and family.Ā Ā  Those are truly the easiest ways- all free forĀ  you- to help the channel grow. If you’d like toĀ Ā  support me further my Patreon is linked in theĀ  description below. Thanks very much in advance.Ā

Let’s head outside, into what feelsĀ  like a bit of a different world.Ā  As we’re walking down here, I think thisĀ  is actually a good point to interrupt andĀ Ā  show you the layout of the hotelĀ  to help you understand what we’reĀ Ā

Walking through, so let’s look at the location. Phu Quoc is an island in the Gulf of Thailand,Ā Ā  Vietnam’s largest island, though it is actually aĀ  lot closer to Cambodia than to mainland Vietnam.Ā Ā  While you can take a ferry here from the mainland,Ā  the most popular way to arrive is via the airportĀ Ā

In the middle of the island. From there, theĀ  hotel is an easy 15 minute drive to the south.Ā  Zooming in, we can see how nice and neatly theĀ  resort is laid out. Up top here we have the twoĀ Ā

Tower areas, this is where all of the suites are.Ā  In the center area here is the true core of theĀ Ā  resort. Here, we have all of the dining venuesĀ  as well as the two largest pools on property.Ā Ā

Then all of these smaller houses are the villas.Ā  Each house has multiple villas of different types,Ā Ā  but they are all neatly combined so that you’dĀ  never even know you had a neighbor- perhaps theĀ Ā  only exception to that are the villas thatĀ  face inwards towards the two giant ponds.Ā

So for reference sake, right nowĀ  we are walking down one of theseĀ Ā  paths that snake in between the villas. I think one of the best things about thisĀ Ā  being a new resort is the landscaping designĀ  and how grown in it is. Far too often resorts,Ā Ā

Especially in Vietnam, will open with what feelsĀ  like a lawn and 300 naked palm trees, simplyĀ Ā  expecting everything to naturally grow in- overĀ  like the next 20 years. Here is very different andĀ Ā  it is a feature here that truly distinguishes thisĀ  property from every other resort on this island.Ā

One thing I probably should mention is that, thisĀ  channel started in Phu Quoc. My very first videoĀ Ā  was of a resort from this island. Since then I’veĀ  visited and filmed 11 properties on the islandĀ Ā  and visited a few other long before the channel asĀ  well. So, I’m not just showering these praises asĀ Ā

Someone who just landed, I’ve seen the majorityĀ  this island has to offer over the past decade.Ā  Here we are now arriving at theĀ  largest of the pools. One of the,Ā Ā  you ready for this? One of the 262 pools onĀ  the property, which brings me to my secondĀ Ā

Big point. This resort is lounger heaven.  Truly. Look at this pool, the surrounds,   the canopies, the hidden nooks, look at  it all and how well done it is. All of the   pools here are of equal caliber and since  around ¾ of the rooms have their own pools,

Plus the giant private beach, these poolsĀ  will likely never be all of that crowded.Ā  There are honestly certain angles around thisĀ  pool area that look too good to be real. RarelyĀ Ā  if ever do I mention room rates in videosĀ  because of course they can vary wildly andĀ Ā

Are always subject to change, but I think it’sĀ  worth a mention here. I’m writing this scriptĀ Ā  in late November. I’ve just checked rates on aĀ  random date every month through next October,Ā Ā  avoiding official holidays and the average rateĀ  for their King Suite, breakfast included is $484.Ā Ā

I think you’ll agree by the end of this videoĀ  that that represents a very good value in aĀ Ā  world where sometimes hotels feel like they’reĀ  going to start charging for hot water soon.Ā  Just in front of this pool area is the beach pool.Ā  Quite amazingly, this is my least favorite ofĀ Ā

The four primary pools here. ConsideringĀ  how beautiful this is, that says a lot.Ā  This pool is directly in front of theĀ  lunch and dinner venue Ocean Club,Ā Ā  which we will get a better look of later. If you head down to the description you’llĀ Ā

Find my next five videos to come out as wellĀ  as other bits and pieces like the soundtrackĀ Ā  titles featured in this video. On your way downĀ  there, don’t forget to subscribe- I release fullĀ Ā  length videos every Thursday and Saturday. For now though, let’s change elevation a bit.Ā

Each of the two towers has its own rooftopĀ  infinity pool and I don’t even think I needĀ Ā  to mention that they are quite well outfitted andĀ  just about as gorgeous as a rooftop pool could be.Ā  Ok, back down to earth, let’sĀ  continue on with my Lounger’sĀ Ā

Paradise theme and go check out the beach. Located on Long Beach, the best part of theĀ Ā  beach here is in fact that it’s long and wellĀ  taken care of. The Regent is directly next toĀ Ā  the Intercontinental- a review of which is comingĀ  soon- and while their beaches are connected, theĀ Ā

Regent’s is just so much nicer. It’s much deeperĀ  and has a wide variety of seating options, allĀ Ā  well spread out so no matter if you’re chillingĀ  in a hammock or sitting in a chaise, you’re neverĀ Ā

Going to feel like you’re on top of your neighbor. I’ll let the beach speak for itself. I’ll justĀ Ā  encourage you to look out for how much spaceĀ  there is and how well maintained the sand is.Ā  Ok, now it’s time to actually goĀ  and check out my room for this stay.Ā

I had a King Ocean Suite booked withĀ  points and was upgraded to a GardenĀ Ā  Pool Villa due to IHG Platinum status. The room numbering system takes a littleĀ Ā  bit of getting used to. My villa was 5112. 5Ā  refers to this style of villa structure. 511Ā Ā

Refers to this full single story buildingĀ  and then once inside the front double doors,Ā Ā  it splits off into two separate attached villas. And, welcome home. I’m going to talk about myĀ Ā  favorite and least favorite detailsĀ  in a bit, but before I let you go,Ā Ā

I need to mention my third big point forĀ  this video: Comfort, comfort, comfort.Ā  There is nothing in this room or in this resortĀ  as a whole that puts anything above comfort. Here,Ā Ā  they have found a perfect balance betweenĀ  modern design and spaces that are invitingĀ Ā

You to just have a seat. I also thinkĀ  that comfort extends beyond just howĀ Ā  plush a surface is. Take note of how full thisĀ  villa is. It is decorated as if it’s a home,Ā Ā  not as if it’s an empty hotel room. Part of thisĀ  also extends to Regent’s With Compliments conceptĀ Ā

Which means a whole lot of things. In the room,Ā  it means there are a bevy of welcome amenities,Ā Ā  everything in that mini bar is free, thereĀ  is daily complimentary laundry service,Ā Ā  a long list of what is literally calledĀ  ā€œcomfort essentialsā€ available forĀ Ā

Free or to borrow. It’s literally, theĀ  comforts of a really really nice home.Ā  Ok, have a bit of an explore and I’llĀ  come back with the details in a bit.Ā  Ok, the details. Let me start with my leastĀ  favorite details because there is only one ofĀ Ā

Them and it’s related to the layout of theseĀ  double villa structures. As we walked in,Ā Ā  you could see, the amount of space that isĀ  wasted just for that sprawling entrance isĀ Ā  enormous. I’m sure it makes for a greatĀ  option if you want to combine the rooms,Ā Ā

But otherwise, it’s just awkward dead space. Ok, now onto the good things. It’s hard toĀ Ā  know where to begin. I’ll start with an allĀ  encompassing ā€œeverything that’s freeā€ in the room.Ā Ā  In this case, it’s really not that the mini bar,Ā  or as it’s called here, the refreshment gallery,Ā Ā

Is free- but it’s the quality of items it’sĀ  stocked with. Imported packaged foods in VietnamĀ Ā  are not cheap, and seeing them along with fourĀ  types of nespresso pods, four loose leaf teas, anĀ Ā  assortment of drinks, welcome chocolates and fruitĀ  and wine. I mean, they really know how to say,Ā Ā

Welcome to Regent. My free stuff comment extendsĀ  to other things such as the bath amenities. AcquaĀ Ā  di Parma is nice to begin with, but there are noĀ  itsy bitsy little bottles. Even the stationary isĀ Ā  gorgeous and there is an entire story about thatĀ  beautiful pattern that I’ll talk about in a bit.Ā

My second favorite detail is the outdoorĀ  space. A lawn, a pool, a table and chairs,Ā Ā  two chaise loungers, plenty of sun andĀ  shade, an outdoor shower- this area bringĀ Ā  ā€œwell thought outā€ to a whole new level. My final favorite detail is quite amazinglyĀ Ā

The attention to detail in the closets.Ā  From the hangers to the shoe polish kit,Ā Ā  the complimentary laundry service binder, theĀ  slippers, the robes, the hat box. I mean come on,Ā Ā  this is a closet that you’d expect at a hotelĀ  at twice the price. While we are here, let meĀ Ā

Dwell on those robes a bit and that pattern as weĀ  head over to some of the dining venues. The firstĀ Ā  venue we will look at is Oku. Oku is a FrenchĀ  Japanese Omakase restaurant and known to now beĀ Ā  likely the best restaurant on the island. As for the pattern, I think it’s bestĀ Ā

I just quote Regent. ā€œIt is inspired by a king’s legend onĀ Ā  his idyllic Vietnamese Island. The historical siteĀ  of The Kin’s Well in An Thoi Town is said to haveĀ Ā  spring into life in the 18th century when EmperorĀ  Gia Long, the first King of the Nguyen Dynasty,Ā Ā

Plunged his sword into a stone. Starved ofĀ  fresh water and food, Lord Nguyen calledĀ Ā  out to the heavens whilst being pursued by localĀ  rebels. Upon removing his sword from the stone,Ā Ā  a stream of freshwater magically erupted and manyĀ  fish surfaced upon the sea saving the King and hisĀ Ā

Army…The illustration was created by Saddo, aĀ  renowned Romanian artist. Primary symbols usedĀ Ā  in its development include the freshwaterĀ  stream and sea, Lord Nguyen and his sword,Ā Ā  lucky rice fish, supported by blackĀ  pearls and Phu Quoc peppercorn plantsā€¦ā€Ā

Accessed through a sacred door in Oku or via theĀ  Rice Market restaurant, the next venue to checkĀ Ā  out is Bar Jade which was designed as a speakeasyĀ  and fashioned after the interior of a pullman car.Ā

Next up we have Rice Market which is an all dayĀ  dining venue. I’ll give you a full tour of theĀ Ā  breakfast buffet here in the morning, for now,Ā  just a few overview shots of the sprawling eatery.Ā

As dusk falls, I’ll remind you that there isĀ  still one pool that we haven’t yet seen, thatĀ Ā  one is on the top of the Sky Wing andĀ  has some spectacular views of the sunset.Ā  Also up here are the Fu Bar and the Regent Club. The Regent Club, which I did not have formalĀ Ā

Access to, but the staff allowed me toĀ  take a few clips since no one was inside,Ā Ā  is more than just a standard club. Unless yourĀ  room includes access, it is generally $150 perĀ Ā  person per day and includes everything from RangeĀ  Rover transfers to all day Champagne to a personalĀ Ā

Concierge. Besides all of that though, the spaceĀ  is just beautiful, especially just after sunset.Ā  The other venue up here is FuĀ  Bar which is open for the eveningĀ Ā  with a strong focus on gin based cocktails. Ok, time to head back down to the Ocean ClubĀ Ā

For dinner. This meal is literally my only boneĀ  to pick, future pun intended, with my entire stay.Ā  The service was fantastic, the space is beautifulĀ  and laid back, the menu itself looked reallyĀ Ā  promising, my issue was with the execution ofĀ  the food. After years in the restaurant industry,Ā Ā

I can tell you precisely what was going on here.Ā  A fully qualified executive or head chef came inĀ Ā  and design the menu and trained the team onĀ  the menu, but over time, the team were givenĀ Ā  or perhaps took, a bit of creative licenseĀ  in the exact recipes and techniques- mostlyĀ Ā

In the name of time or cost savings. My appetizer, as beautiful as it was,Ā Ā  was really- and I mean really- difficultĀ  to get down. Pate and terrines are a way ofĀ Ā  life in Vietnam, it wouldn’t be a stretch to sayĀ  I’ve eaten it weekly for a decade, but this wasĀ Ā

Entirely form over taste. Described as foie grasĀ  terrine, tomato glazed, phu quoc pepper blinis,Ā Ā  lemon jam. The tomato glaze tasted like red,Ā  the pepper blinis tasted nothing of the sortĀ Ā  and the lemon jam was absurdly sweet. As forĀ  the terrine, zero seasoning. Was literallyĀ Ā

Like taking a bite of fridge cold boiled liver. My main dish was fish, listed as phu quoc pearlĀ Ā  grouper fillet, burnt brussel sprouts, heirloomĀ  tomato salsa, spicy tom yum sriracha. To say thisĀ Ā  was a fail is an understatement. First, theĀ  fillet was rolled- I didn’t know, but okay,Ā Ā

Could still be good. But the center was theĀ  texture of canned tuna. What was supposed toĀ Ā  be burnt brussel sprouts were in fact raw shavedĀ  sprouts. The heirloom tomato salsa, might haveĀ Ā  been tomato water in caviar form, but honestly,Ā  it didn’t taste like much of anything. Lastly,Ā Ā

Spicy tom yum sriracha there was not. Among manyĀ  other issues my guess is that it was not theĀ Ā  exact type of fish that was intended for thisĀ  dish. Not to mention, I also had 6 pin bones.Ā

I ate around half the the main and was offeredĀ  a dessert on the house. I chose the yuzu tart.Ā Ā  Listed as orange sable, yuzu cream, mango sorbet,Ā  lemon meringue. The mango sorbet was delicious.Ā Ā  The lemon meringue was missing, the yuzu creamĀ  had the mouthfeel of warm margarine and the orangeĀ Ā

Sable had the scent of bad refrigeration.Ā  The red gel on the plate I have no idea.Ā  Considering how incredible this resortĀ  is, I really cannot explain quite howĀ Ā  disappointing this meal was. Likely one of theĀ  worst executed meals I’ve ever had in Vietnam.Ā

When I got back to my room it had been beautifullyĀ  turned down with some very nice details,Ā Ā  from the perfectly long cosmetics liner, to theĀ  wrapping of all of my cords to a very thoughtfulĀ Ā  microfiber cloth left next to my laptop. The next morning I went for a walk aroundĀ Ā

The property before breakfast opened up andĀ  got a sense of the on site spa’s serenity.Ā  But now, time for breakfast.Ā  If I’m honest, I was absolutelyĀ Ā  starving by the time this rolled around. This is likely the most theatrical buffetĀ Ā

I’ve ever seen in Vietnam. Maybe the mostĀ  segmented is a better word. The restaurant,Ā Ā  Rice Terrace is sprawling and so is the buffet,Ā  with portions of it setup in different areas.Ā  My only complaint about the buffet was that evenĀ  10 minutes after opening, there were still quiteĀ Ā

A few hot dishes not available yet. ThatĀ  said, I thought the balance of western,Ā Ā  Korean and Vietnamese dishes was spot on.Ā  There was also a small supplemental egg menu.Ā  The chilled items and fruits had their ownĀ  designated room with staff on hand the entireĀ Ā

Time beautifully cutting the fruit to serve. Serving perfectly skinned pink pomelo andĀ Ā  pre-opened rambutan is just about asĀ  good as a fruit game can get for me.Ā  Last up there was also a separateĀ  room just for the bakery.Ā  My eggs benedict were cooked nicely, butĀ  it was a shortcut blender hollandaiseĀ Ā

Made with lime juice instead of lemon. Ok, so as we take a look at the gym,Ā Ā  let me wrap up this very anticipated review. It is incredible. Dinner was really the onlyĀ Ā  fault I found, had it not been for that thisĀ  would have easily been a perfectly scoringĀ Ā

Hotel. Let’s forget the meal though and focusĀ  on the full experience. This resort is meantĀ Ā  to give you everything you’ve ever wanted orĀ  needed in a resort, but just enough of it.Ā  The market in Phu Quoc is not at a place where anĀ  Aman or One&Only or Rosewood is appropriate. TheĀ Ā

Island is still trying to find its identity. ForĀ  years, the JW Marriott lead the way with this-Ā Ā  in fact you can see JW design elements literallyĀ  all over the island- tacky as can be. The RegentĀ Ā

Is not only a hell of a lot better than theĀ  JW, it is also the perfect next step for theĀ Ā  island and frankly, for Vietnam. The Regent PhuĀ  Quoc will define Vietnamese tourism in the sameĀ Ā  way that the Intercontinental Sun PeninsulaĀ  and the Four Seasons Nam Hai have before. TheĀ Ā

Regent Phu Quoc is literally a gift to Vietnam-Ā  to all of us really, one that I hope desperately,Ā Ā  is appreciated and used well. This one, I assureĀ  you, I will be returning to, multiple times.Ā  So, I really do hope you enjoyed thisĀ  full resort tour today. If you did,Ā Ā

Please click that thumbs up button and subscribeĀ  with notifications on so you don’t miss out on anyĀ Ā  of my twice weekly content. I release full lengthĀ  videos every Thursday and Saturday. I will see youĀ Ā  next time on board Etihad Airways, in businessĀ  class. Oh and thanks for watching until the end.

This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that’s the way I like it!

  3. Outstanding! My GF's family is Vietnamese. They talk of us all going to Vietnam. I guess I know were we will be staying now! šŸ™‚

I'm a big fan of nice resorts around the world. My only complaint with Asia is that it is so often "Graysia", regardless of the time of year. You got some nice sunny weather for this tour, but I imagine the charm of the place would be much less favorable with big gray clouds hanging overhead. I've come to learn that a great many Asian people actually prefer the clouds. I think that is very odd, but to each their own. As for me, you will find me chillin' near a desert.

  4. Wow amazing, I was born on the island of Phu Quoc in 1977 we left Vietnam to move to Australia, I remember when I went back in early 2000 it was a lot of farm land. I will definitely stay in this place when I go back for a holiday thank you for the tour & review cheers šŸ‘šŸ½

  5. nice , beautiful , 7..8 stars but its a ghost resort , too expensive ..local people cant afford it only for tourist !!!!

  6. I think this doesn’t compare to Apurva Kempinski – Nusa Dua. The high rise next door is horrible to look at. The land is flat and the pools are not huge. For similar pricing Apurva – Bali will blow your mind. šŸŽ‰

  7. It would be fun to go, but flying from Orlando, FL would take 2 days. Nope, not sitting on several flights for that long.

  8. OK here’s the thing, You can stay in lovely Beach Bungalows just 70 mts further down on the same beach for just Ā£122 a week thats Ā£22 a night , they even have a Great pool with restaurant and Bar No service charge , They will even set you a Table on the Beach for your evening meal, Beer is less than Ā£1 , Coconut Drinks were free and ice cold , They would add a shot for 80p if you wanted, Also they had a Mini bus service to take you to town . Also if you wanted to stay long term you can do a deal, 12 weeks cost me Ā£800 , With free laundry…… These resorts are Expensive 12 X more expensive, For sitting on the same beach. The Bungalows i stayed in were Clean , Fridge stocked for free everyday, Fresh fruit, And bottled Water . I was treated like family… You have to remember one thing these Posh Hotels are not Locally owned , They are owned by a Foreign Company and its profit does not go into the Local Community…… Bare that in mind when booking,

  9. Does anyone notice how empty it is? Cause no one goes there! Went to Phu Quoc last year, and the place is dead. Good luck with high-end resorts where no one goes too.

  10. Congrats on the 250th video!

Hmmm I should stop vacationing in the Caribbean and go to Vietnam instead. No way I find this for less than $1000 a night in North America.

Edit: do you have IHG diamond status?

  11. Flip Flop traveller? You misled me with your channels name. Anyone staying at a 10 million VND per night resort should be called The Wingtip Dress Shoe traveller and not anything close to flip flops.
    I’m out.

  12. I didn’t find this review very helpful. In fact it’s missing so much critical information and it was so devoid of guests that I’m actually put off going. Firstly you must state the temperature of the swimming pools. Are they heated? If so solar or gas? TEMPERATURE.? We stayed at the most expensive hotel in Italy on lake Como, The Grand Hotel Trezmezzo, I won’t return because the main pool was only heated to 26.5 degrees. I need 28 minimum. I believe they may increase it based on my feedback, as many guests didn’t swim.
Secondly what activities does this Regent offer? You cannot state it’s a resort if it has no daily program.
Thirdly is there a kids club?
I don’t think it’s on a very swimmable beach and another thing this so called travel expert missed, are there life guards? Not such a great video.

  13. Great point about landscaping and pool. The main draw card for us when choosing a resort is lush landscaping and a rambling pool. The former makes me fells like I’m on a tropical holiday (rather than going into the office) and the latter because I hate being on display when swimming and playing with my kids.

  14. All the coconuts in the buffet area got me sold. Great video. Loved the pools. Now I know where to stay when I go to Vietnam. Thank you for this amazing video! šŸ˜Šā¤

  15. this looks like a nice place to explore but i gave up watching at 3:54 because there was nothing but hyperbole up until then.

  16. Is the food and drink complimentary? If not, what was the average price at each of the venues?

  17. Hubby and I celebrated our 25th anniversary in October last year, 2023, went to the Philippines, Japan, and Thailand for 30/days total. We stayed at the REGENT in Hua Hin, Thailand for 5/days and we both love it. We found out it was built some 30 years ago, and many people who had been there a few times say that the place is now a s***hole. This REGENT you featured here seems to me it will go out of business pretty soon. The problem is not because the fact that's in an island but the amount of land it sits on that requires enormous employees and its upkeep.

  18. I saw nothing about what this cost per night IN AMERICAN MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
