Walking Tour in Fushimi, the Sake Brewing Town of Kyoto, Japan | Travel Guide [4K]

Hello everyone. This time we will be walking around Kyoto again. This time we will take a walk around the city of Fushimi. Fushimi is famous as a city of sake brewing. It’s very interesting to stroll through the town, which is lined with quaint sake brewery buildings.

Here is the walking route for this time. This is “Kizakura Kappa Country”. This is a complex facility that combines restaurants, shops, and an alcohol museum. Fushimi is said to be one of Japan’s three major sake producing areas, along with Saijo in Hiroshima Prefecture and Nada in Hyogo Prefecture.

There are many other sake breweries scattered throughout the city. This is “Ryoma Dori Shopping Street”. Fushimi is also an area connected to the great figure Ryoma Sakamoto. There is a historical site here that is famous for the Teradaya Incident. There was an incident in which Ryoma Sakamoto was attacked and fled.

It is a city where you can feel the history of the end of the Edo period. This is Horikawa, which is famous for the Fushimi Jukokubune. Boats do not operate during this period, but will only operate from mid-March to early December. There is a statue of Ryoma Sakamoto and his wife Oryu here.

Then I would like to walk along the river. The building in front of it is Gekkeikan, a sake brewery. It’s a very atmospheric sight. You can also tour the sake brewery at Gekkeikan. We will also walk along the street in front of the building later. This is the boarding point for the Jikkoku-bune.

This is the “Gekkeikan Okura Memorial Hall”. Here you can enjoy sake brewery tours and tastings. It’s a very beautiful cityscape. Well, this walk is almost over. We hope you enjoyed walking around Fushimi, Kyoto. Thank you for watching till the end. Have a nice trip everyone.

This time, we’ll be exploring the famous Fushimi area in Kyoto, Japan, renowned for its sake production. While Fushimi is often associated with Fushimi Inari Taisha, the town itself boasts beautiful streets and holds its own charm. The sake breweries and the riverside paths offer picturesque landscapes. Please enjoy the stroll through this captivating area.
