チュニジアの「スター・ウォーズ」のロケ地めぐり – タトゥイーン

Hello, I’m Chihiro. This time, we will introduce Star Wars filming locations in Tunisia. Tatooine, the hometown of Luke and Anakin, was filmed in Tunisia. Tunisia is a country in North Africa. Star Wars filming locations are located in the south of Tunisia. The first filming location is Hotel Sidi Idriss.

Hotel Sidi Idriss is located in Matmata. It was used in Star Wars: Episode IV. It is now used as a hotel and restaurant. It has a Star Wars feel from the entrance. First is the hotel area. Hotel rooms are named after Star Wars characters.

In addition to the characters, there is also a George Lucas room. This hotel is affordable. Head to the next hole. Star Wars characters are painted on the walls. The second hole is a Star Wars set. This is the Lars family home where Luke Skywalker spent his childhood.

It was built using the cave dwellings of the indigenous Berber people. There is also a Star Wars room. It is decorated with Star Wars posters and photos. The Stormtroopers don’t seem to be feeling well. This is a photo of the scene taken here. There are also characters here and there.

Next, go to the bar. It is commonly known as “Star Wars Bar”, which was used in Star Wars. This is the most famous room here! The scene where the Lars family is having a discussion in Episode 4 was filmed here. City Doris also has a restaurant.

You can eat Tunisian food inside the hole. Each room has Tunisian-style paintings. The main course was brick, chicken, and salad. Brick is stuffed and fried, and the filling is an egg. Comes with rice with tomato sauce and potatoes. Dessert is watermelon. The hole can also be seen from above.

It’s amazing how you can dig such a deep hole! This is the hotel part. The Berbers dug holes to protect themselves from invading Arabs. You can see the town of Matmata in the background. Underground dwellings can avoid the drastic climate changes and strong sunlight of arid regions, and

Are excellent at retaining heat even in winter. The next hole is a restaurant. I was able to enjoy the hole from both the top and bottom. You can also ride a camel here. The second filming location is Sidi Bouhlel. Sidi Bouhlel is a 30-minute drive from Tozeur.

Sidi Bouhrel is also known as Star Wars Canyon. It is so called because it was the filming location for Star Wars Episode 4. This is Chandland Gorge on Tatooine. The scene where Luke meets Obi Wan Kenobi is famous. Other scenes that

Were filmed include the scene where R2D2 is captured by Jawas and the scene where Jawas stops the Sandcrawler. I’m going to climb the mountain. The slope is gentle, but the heat makes it difficult to climb. The top was finally in sight. There is a mosque at the top of the mountain.

The reason why it is here is because it is important to climb the mountain with effort and pray quietly. The view from the mosque is spectacular. Let’s approach the cliff. The valley is so big that it looks like a spaceship could pass through it. An oasis spreads out below.

There was also a mosque in this place. After enjoying the view, we headed back down. There were no people at all, and it felt like I was in another world! On the way up, I had to climb up so hard that I couldn’t enjoy the scenery, but

The descent was easy so I could enjoy the scenery to my heart’s content. Star Wars Episode 4 was released in 1977, but it’s amazing that the same scenery still remains today. There is no shadow at all, so a hat and sunscreen are a must. Java suddenly seems to appear!

If you look at it from below, you can see how high it has climbed. Finally, take in this spectacular view and move on to the next location. The next filming location is Ong Jumel. Ong Jumel is a 45-minute drive from Tozeur. This is the filming location for Episode I.

This is the place where Darth Maul attacked Qui-Gon Jinn and a battle ensued. Climb the rock. Ong El Jumel means “camel’s neck”. It is named after a large rock shaped like a camel. You can see Camel Rock up close on the rock. It has an interesting shape even when seen up close.

The top of the rock is flat and easy to walk on! The top of the rock is high up, so you can see the surrounding valley. If you look at nearby rocks, you can clearly see the strata. The descent was even more scary because it was steep.

The next filming location is Mos Espa. Mos Espa is a 40-minute drive from Tozeur. Mos Espa was a spaceport city on the desert planet Tatooine. Used in Star Wars episodes 1 and 2. Star Wars 1 was released in 1999, but its filming locations still remain. Let’s move deeper.

On Tatooine, twin suns (Tatoo I and Tatoo II) shine on the desert. To keep out the heat, the building is protected by thick walls and a circular roof. Mos Espa was a town with stalls lined up on both sides of the city’s wide roads, housing, workplaces, shops, and an entertainment area.

You can also ride a camel here 🐪 Because there are various creatures living here, the door sizes also vary. The town is like a maze, and you can go to many different places. You can also put it inside your house.

It was mainly used for outside filming, so the inside is made of wood. It’s fun because it’s rare to see a set this big. Is it a house for small creatures? There are a lot of things like communication devices in Mos Espa.

There was a place where you could climb on top of a building, so I decided to go there. The surrounding area is a wasteland and there is nothing. I also found that the inside was neatly arranged! The sunset is beautiful. Mos Espa is illuminated by the setting sun.

There is also a souvenir shop. There weren’t many Star Wars goods, there were a lot of souvenirs from Tunisia. As the sun sets, the sky becomes a gradation! Mos Espa was even more beautiful as it was illuminated by the setting sun. After being seen off by the camels, we set off!

The next filming location is Ksar Hadada. Ksar Hadada is located in Tataouine province. R2D2 welcomes you. There is a souvenir shop at the entrance. . The souvenir shop has magnets and pottery. Tableware and cooking utensils are also available. Episode I was filmed here.

It was used as a slave settlement on the outskirts of Mos Espa. It was here that Qui-Gon Jinn learned a hidden secret about Anakin Skywalker as a child. It remains exactly as it was when the photo was taken. I’ll go up to the roof. Some places have roofs on the rooftops as well.

You can enjoy the surrounding scenery from the rooftop. I went down again. There are olive trees, typical of Tunisia. Inside the room there are tools to crush something. There is also a hotel where you can stay in this characteristic house. There are several room types. First, go to a compact room.

At the front is a washroom, toilet, and shower. In the back is a room with a carpet where you can sit. The bed is in a cave. The second room is a vertically long room. There is a cave bedroom on the second floor. There is a higher floor.

There are two bedrooms on the third floor. There are so many beds that a large family can stay here. The door will open on the third floor. From here we could see Ksar Hadada from above. The washroom is larger than the previous room and has a toilet and shower.

Next up is the traditional Berber Ksar. Berbers are an indigenous people of North Africa. Ksar is a traditional village of oasis residents. This building was used as a house and a grain warehouse. The building is made of sun-dried bricks. Some aisles are quite narrow.

The minaret of the mosque can be seen through the Ksar. The Ksar in this area has two floors. You can go up to the second floor using the outside stairs. Put the kusar inside as well. The inside was divided into sections. The arches of the roof are aligned and everything is beautiful ♪

It’s amazing that it hasn’t collapsed at all and is in good condition! There are also arches that separate the sections. Go through the arch and go to the next section. The traditional colored Ksar is a hotel and a cafe. There was a small shop where you could buy drinks and snacks.

It felt like I was exploring a city, and it was fun. The final filming location is Ksar Ouled Sultan. Ksar Oured Sultan is a 30-minute drive from Tataouine. This place was also used as a slave quarters on the outskirts of Mos Espa in Episode 1.

Ksar was a place used by the Berber people as a residence and a storehouse for grain. Ksar Uled Sultan is located on a hill. It was built here to escape from attacks. Therefore, access is difficult and there is nothing around, so it is recommended to come by car.

You can also put it inside the room. Many of the rooms had solid partitions. There are two courtyards, and around the first courtyard there are buildings of various shapes. Go to the second courtyard. This is a row of 3 or 4 story buildings.

There is an entrance on each floor, which can be accessed by an outside staircase. This place was also painted over the bricks. In the center is a date tree. Berber houses are all unique and fun to look at. In some places, the rooms were separated by bricks.

The world I saw in the movie was unfolding before my eyes, and it was fun touring the filming locations. This concludes our tour of Star Wars filming locations in Tunisia. Thank you for watching until the end.
