Explore Kyoto Japan 2024|Discover Hidden Gems in Arashiyama|Museum Cafe|Arts and more|Walking VLOG

Welcome back! We explored some of the hidden mysteries and declious cuisine of Arashiyama in the previous episodes. But our adventure was not over yet. We had one more place to check out. We got on the JR Rapid Train at Saga Arashiyama Station and headed to Sonobe.

On the way, we saw a stunning canyon after a tunnel. It’s a cool place. We decided to get off and explore. We were at Hozukyo Station, a bridge that connects Kyoto City and Kameoka City. You can get from Arashiyama to Hotsu Gorge in just one stop.

It’s super easy and fast, only about 3 minutes by train. It is a direct train from Kyoto, so no hassle there. But here’s a fun fact: the old line station Hotsukyo Station is actually in Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto City, but the new station building is on the bridge in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture.

You can also walk from the platform that goes to Kameoka, under the railway tracks (under the bridge), get to the station building on the other side, where the trains go to Kyoto.

You can see Hozukyo Station from under the bridge. It’s amazing how close you can get to the railway bridge. Hozukyo Station doesn’t have any staff. But it’s not like some remote station in the middle of nowhere.

There are trains coming and going every 20 minutes or so. And there’s even a simple ICOCA ticket gate. The train goes through the second Hozu Tunnel right next to it. Hozukyo Station has a simple platform with 2 sides and 2 tracks!

It is also known for a tourist attraction that offers a trolley train and a boat ride along the Hozugawa River. The view from the other platform is awesome too. This is the best station to enjoy the canyon scenery.

In autumn, when the mountains are full of red maples, it’s also a great spot to see and take pictures of the red leaves. This place is very secluded. There are no houses around. The nearest village is about 3 kilometers away. The Hozugawa River looked so high from there.

Winter has come and the red leaves are gone. Do you see that red bridge? That’s where we can walk from JR Hozukyo Station to Hotsukyo Torokko Station. It is a hidden gem for many Japanese train fans.

I came here in the autumn a long time ago. The scenery here is wide and beautiful, and it’s easy to get to. It’s a nice place to chill and enjoy nature. We go back to Arashiyama. It’s only 3 minutes from Sagano Arashiyama Station.

We walked to Togetsukyo Bridge and saw more sights. We go to the Fukuda Art Museum, a new spot in Arashiyama. It’s near the Katsuragawa, so I had a nice view of the Togetsukyo Bridge from there. It is a paid museum.

They had a lot of awesome paintings from old and new Japanese artists, like Satakemura and Uemura Shoen. I loved their styles and stories. I got hungry after admiring the art, so I headed to the cafe in the museum. The best thing was the view from the window.

It was only for museum visitors, so it was not too crowded. I saw the whole bridge and the river, and the trees were green, red and yellow. It looked like a masterpiece itself. I spotted the bar with a view of Togetsukyo Bridge.

I found a cozy spot and checked out the menu. It had a variety of nibbles, sweets, and beverages, and some combo deals for groups. I ordered a panini with cheese and meat, and a cup of ice coffee. I also treated myself to a sundae for dessert.

You won’t believe your eyes when you sit down at this cafe. You get a stunning view of Arashiyama, with the river and the bridge right there. The architecture and the garden of the museum add some charm to the scene too. “Seasonal Sundae”.

The desserts change with the seasons. Today’s parfait was mostly brown. It had ice cream, whipped cream, jelly, granola, and more. a nice cup of coffee made with care. The bread is toasted on the outside after you order, so it’s crunchy and soft at the same time.

It’s a simple and delicious dish that blends the flavors of different ingredients. The salad dressing was cool. Was it walnut? There were little beads in it that made it yummy. I didn’t know if they were for texture or flavor, but I ate it all.

What’s good for coffee time is the “Seasonal Sundae”, which has a blessing symbol made with brown powder. It was sweet and sour, and had different textures. It was a really fancy dessert. A place where you can relax and enjoy the art, but also have a good meal without being crowded.

The food is delicious but kind of expensive. We feel full of energy and let’s continue to enjoy the artistic aftertaste. After visiting the art gallery, we went to another place to enjoy evening art. First , we visit Togetsukyo Bridge.

The river under the Togetsukyo Bridge is the Katsura River, but the locals call this part of the river the Dayan River. Arashiyama’s trees have a deeper shade today. Maybe the sky is overcast and the sun is hiding.

The Togetsukyo Bridge is a 155-meter-long and 11-meter-wide bridge that looks like a crescent moon over the river. The Togetsukyo Bridge was still crowded with tourists, coming and going nonstop. It’s not far from the beautiful Togetsukyo Bridge and you can find lots of shops selling souvenirs and snacks nearby.

Arashiyama Station on the Keifuku Electric Railway Arashiyama Main Line, or “Arashiden” for short, is a fun place to visit in Arashiyama. Randen is a historic train that dates back to 1910. It starts from Shijo Omiya and takes you to various places in the central and western parts of Kyoto.

You’ll hear some interesting station names that you might not be familiar with. They sound like they belong to a different era, don’t they? People love its old-fashioned charm and its cozy little train. You’ll feel like you’re in a different era when you ride it. It’s so fun and nostalgic!

In the middle of the station, there’s a pond called “Ryu no Atago Pond” that’s supposed to be a power spot. They say that if you touch the water with your hand, you’ll get lucky.

But the best thing about this station is the art installation called “Yuzen no Korin” or KIMONO FOREST in English. You can see these poles all over the station, on the platforms and along the tracks. There’s a foot bath on the platform of Arashiyama Station.

You can use it for 200 yen (they give you a towel too) at the information desk. It’s a great way to relax after walking around. KIMONO FOREST’s made of about 600 poles covered with Kyoto Yuzen fabric.

Kyoto Yuzen is a traditional dyeing technique that uses rice paste to create colorful patterns of animals, plants, flowers and landscapes on silk fabrics. The poles are about 2 meters tall and they have 15 kinds of patterns and about 600 colors on them, so it’s like a rainbow of kimono.

When it gets dark, the poles light up with LED lights. It looks amazing in the light, like a forest of lanterns. It’s so romantic and magical. We had a blast in Sagano from morning to dusk. But it was time to leave Arashiyama.

We got here by JR train (Episode 13), but we decided to go back to Kyoto city by Hankyu train. The Hankyu station and the JR station are in different places. We had to cross the Togetsukyo Bridge. The sun was almost down, and the forest in Arashiyama was getting darker.

We were on our way to the Hankyu Railway Arashiyama Station, and we saw buses passing by along the road. This is Hankyu Railway’s Arashiyama Station. It is lit up with warm yellow lights and decorated with wooden details and paper lanterns. It feels like stepping into a different era. The platform

This line has been operating since 1928, so it’s full of history and charm. It is a charming station. The train itself is also a vintage beauty, with spacious seats and large windows that let you admire the scenery along the 4.1-kilometer-long Arashiyama Line. We get to Kyoto Kawaramachi from Arashiyama.

The ride to Katsura Station takes only 8 minutes, and from there you can easily transfer to another train that will take you to Kyoto Kawaramachi, the heart of the city. The fare is very affordable, only 240 yen one way, there are frequent trains that run every 15 minutes or so.

I’m at Katsura Station right now, which is HK-81 on the map. It’s a cool place where you can hop on either the Hankyu Kyoto Main Line or the Arashiyama Line. Did you know that the station has been around since 1928? That’s pretty old, huh?

Anyway, I’m switching trains here with a bunch of other people. The station is huge and busy, with lots of signs telling you where to go. I followed them and got to another platform. This is where I’m catching the train to Kyoto Kawaramachi.

Katsura Station has three platforms and six tracks, so it’s easy to get confused. The platform is packed and there are trains coming and going all the time. There’s a screen on the platform that shows when the next train is and where it’s going. Oh, look, my train is here.

The seats are spacious and cozy, and you can enjoy the scenery as you go. The train is a great option for anyone who values comfort and convenience. We reached Kyoto Kawaramachi Station, the heart of Kyoto, in just 7 minutes. The platform was crowded with people coming and going.

We walk around the Sagano to explore the hidden mystreies scenery of Sagano and Arashiyama. (Episode 13 – 15) We know more about the legend and romantic stories that local knows.(Episode 13 & 14) We ate yummy wagyu beef, nice coffee and dessert.(Episode 14 & 15)

We experience a bit of old-fashioned romance and enjoy the night view of Arashiyama. It’s a great way to end the day. What kind of night life does Kyoto have to offer? Don’t miss the next episode where we explore the unique charm of Kyoto after dark.
