Phuket Sunday Night Market đšđ Best Street Food In Phuket Old Town Market
Finally we’ve got to the food and the first thing that caught my eye was these dumplings  King Dumpling you can see now I presume she’ll put a lid on and they’ll steam boil  and Fry all at the same time and get like a crispy bottom see there because we’re early Â
They’re still still getting it ready first batch is still cooking and what’s on the  menu pork chicken spinach vegetable or a mix 60 baht for six pieces should we  get a mix let’s get a mix actually I don’t know if we can get a mix because they’re Â
Not ready let’s get pork then I presume the original ones are pork can I get three of each we’ll try pork and we will try Chicken Little Bit of sesame seeds on the top toasted sesame seeds popcorn carb all Â
Chili oil too okay popcorn 60 baht six lovely looking dumplings as I say three chicken three  pork and you get a choice of sauces you have soy sauce or this homemade homemade right homemade Â
Crispy chili what do you call it in Thai uh nam nam okay so any p is a chili chili crispy chili  if you’re just calling it something so we’re going to slather that with that because this  stuff is amazing all right let’s cover that up all right grab some Chopsticks let’s go try
Alright what I haven’t really thought through is how I’m going to try this stuff because there’s  nowhere to sit down so I’ve just placed you on a security camera stand this is why I wish I was Â
A travel couple and I had someone else filming me and they could hold the camera whilst I try  it anyway we have our six dumplings with the crispy chili I think this is chicken wow crispy crunch on the bottom where that water has evaporated and then started to Â
Fry on the bottom I mean if I can show you guys crispy deliciousness it’s a nice chicken flavor  it’s like minced chicken inside with some green onion nicely seasoned but the top of the dumpling  is really soft and then the bottom is crispy so there a nice textural difference then you get the Â
Pop of those sesame seeds and the savory slightly spicy actually taste of the crispy chili oil right pork chicken is good but pork pork is the winner here there have some great  dumplings homemade she’s making them there she’s cooking them there and Â
The crispy chili is her recipe mother so always King to support that and you can taste how did I not see these with huge shrimp inside shrimp and pork she was hiding them yeah  we too late now I’m almost full on these ones and we’ve got a lot more food to try Â
But if they’re as good as the chicken or the pork go for them too popcorn cup all right let’s continue need to be careful that I don’t fill up too much because I want to try quite Â
A lot of things quick drink stop and I haven’t had this before actually it is tamarind juice  and I think Stevia is like this um alternative sugar so it’s not made with sugar so I can say Â
There’s no sugar in it but it’s a sweetener but it looks pretty damn good our cap this small  one uh tamarind Tamarind juice and looks like they mixed up with a bit of lime juice as well which is interesting just giving it a proper Shake loving it sadly no alcohol after last night
All right let’s try it you get the fuess you get the sweetness and the sound is coming through ice cold super refreshing if you’ve cooked with Tamarind it’s a familiar it’s a familiar flavor  but because there sweetness there it’s palatable if you just drink Â
Tamarind water is way too sour but that fruitiness that comes from the tamarind yeah pretty damn good 20 baht oh man it is getting busy thank God I’ve got over my nervousness of filming in front of Â
People right right more food more food we’re in a we’re in a food market we need to find  more food I love these grilled sausages you have Northern Thai sausage have this  is name and then Moo Ping comes with sticky rice and a raw raw cabbage too and raw chili Â
Love that but I’ve eaten a lot of that so let’s try let’s look for something different okay we saw Thai fish cakes earlier but I’ve never seen one like this or being cook like  this it’s on like a conveyor belt and spinning around cooking over the over the grill just Â
Checking what it was whether it was charcoal or grill but it is Grill so I think we’re gonna have  to try one of these I love Thai fish cakes and actually quite nice because sometimes they’re a  little oily and these ones aren’t cooked in oil they’re cooked over the grill and pretty unique Â
And that’s what I normally look out for something I haven’t tried before so we’ll get one of these look at this fish cake grilled on a skewer can’t get better than that all  right as you know proof is in the tasting ah it’s hot
It’s softer than I expected I guess it’s it’s thicker than the ones which are fried in the  pan in the oil they kind of go not crispy on the outside but because they’re thin they cook all  the way through and have a the same texture these it’s much lighter it’s like soft and Â
Not melter in the mouth but the flavor of the lemongrass The Green Onion thinking what else  is in there ah they have green little chopped green beans in there or like long beans which  adds a little bit of texture it’s fishy but not too fishy it’s actually really good not oily not Â
Greasy like the ones which fried I like them but as I said they can be a bit greasy a genius we of cooking and 15 baht look at this bubbling cauldron of meat with box tow it looks so Â
Damn good with the broth bubbling away but to be honest it’s going to be too heavy this is about  Street snacks not full meals popcorn cab the old town is just filled with cafes and bars and cool Â
Places it’s probably one of my favorite areas in a town in Thailand and a totally totally  different feeling to being in Patong as I’ve said before but also of Karon and Rawai very  very different actually this light is terrible sorry guys it’s like half strong half half not Â
But yeah this place is totally different please please please please do not miss Phuket Old Town  when you come to Phuket okay I’ve also found something I haven’t seen before now you do  see these uh these dishes where they cook little coconut pancakes normally or even takoyaki which Â
We saw further down but I’ve never seen them cook it like this they make like little little  pancakes with seafood placed in the middle called called Hoy Krop Hoy is like uh oyster so we know Â
Hoy Tod when we had Hoy Tod which was oyster omelet but crop is also the name of the dish  anyway 40 bars and you can get a selection of the different seafood and it comes with the Â
Choice of sweet chili sauce or Nam Jim Seafood so I have gone with Nam Jim seafood and you do get  a selection we’ve got prawn squid muscle crab stick and I can’t see what that one is but it Â
Looks good let’s try it okay I’m going to go with the squid first and you can just see where it’s  fried and cooked on that hot grill pan dip it in the Nam Jim Seafood it’s going to be hot I’m sure
Crispy on the outside yes you get the chew of that squid ring but on the inside it’s  soft it’s Rich it’s unctuous it’s not cooked all the way through so there’s  a a creaminess to it it’s made with I’m sure rice flour tapioca flour and
Egg it is all about that Crunch and that mild Seafood flavor very good 40 Baht which  I’ve not paid yet I’ve just realized here we go I’m going try a muscle one straight away you get that Seafood flavor especially from the muscle the muscle has Â
A nice Seafood flavor the crunch a really really nice crunch in the outside where that rice flour  batter has cooked against that pan really strong crunch love it very very delicious yeah another  little unique dish in this market now we’re in the south seafood is king and the quality Â
Is absolutely fantastic look at the size of that Lobster and obviously you have prawn I mean even  the prawns are absolutely huge but grilled you can smell the flavor of the shell of you know  prawns or shell being grilled such a unique flavor love it and those scallops look at the size of
Them another thing I’ve never seen before in this market it’s  called Khao Krip wow which means well I know wow means kite and I guess it  looks like a kite but she did tell me you can’t fly it thank you for that anyway
It looks like a well it looks like a crisp bread which is cooked over the charcoal and then well  it toasts up very nicely and then she takes it off it cools down and goes crisp and it’s Â
Like these two big well two big paddles of crisp bread got to try them cup all right time to try  Mike how clip wow or rice kite let’s call it that I’ve already broken it it’s so crisp crispy and Â
Just look at that it’s so thin as well you can see well I can see through it I’m being filmed  from the side just off camera and you can see how toasty Brown it is from where she’s cooked it over Â
That charcoal it’s made with rice flour super thin super crunchy as I say there’s black sesame seeds  in there little bit like I mean it looks a little bit like a prong cracker as we would know but I didn’t expect it to be sweet sweet super light just disappears in your Â
Mouth as it hits your tongue there’s the sweetness to it but you can also taste  the the charcoal and then a little pepper of those black sesame seeds 30 baht interesting kind of want something to dip it into not something savory because it’s Â
Sweet but to be honest I’m being really honest I would prefer if it wasn’t sweet I think it  would be better that way but it’s all right I just love finding new things and trying new things right now we’re going to go and try something which I’ve been putting off trying Â
Since I came to Thailand that’s Gong Ten dancing shrimp look how excited I am let’s go so there’s  actually a second part on the other side of the road we need to cross the road but it’s Â
Much quieter up here I mean it’s still busy but it is quieter so if you want to get away  from the crowds and see what’s going on I mean there’s a there’s a few food stores up here not Â
As many as back there but this is where the dancing shrimp are we see if we can find it  and then I’ll tell you what it is if you haven’t already guessed right I think I’ve been saved by Â
The virtue of the fact that there is no here dancing shrimp so what it is is basically live  shrimp that they mix with lime juice chili rice powder and herbs coriander they mix it up and  then you eat them when they’re still alive so they’re jumping out of the bowl and yesterday Â
When I came here they were here and I thought okay if I’m coming to film tomorrow I’ll film  it as I say I’ve been putting it off I’ve seen it in other places and I’ve been putting it off Â
And putting it off because it’s a bit weird right but today I was going to be brave and she’s not here all right guys no dancing shrimp what a shame so I thought I’d make up for it by Â
Trying something which is also a little bit weird and in English it’s called fish Maw  and in Thai it’s called Kra Pop something like that she told me but couldn’t remember anyway  I think I’m about as excited for this as as I was for the dancing shrimp but I will try it Â
Let me go over and grab some here it is guys how good does this look thick gloopy noodles  looks like gloopy noodle bamboo Bamboo yeah bamboo what’s in it bamboo quail egg ah this  is blood chicken blood chicken blood and then this is the swim blood yeah fish more fish
More she’s laughing at me she doesn’t want to serve me he’s laughing at me  they’re all watching great M oh that’s a stir and a half isn’t it I didn’t understand that but she’s probably saying Fang will die when he eats fish
More at smile on her face as she knows you can just see look how thick and gloopy that  is and I put some dried chili in there and some chili vinegar all right apologies for Â
The not not the best shot but it’s so busy here trying to find a space to film is crazy  anyway actually I’ll move you guys around a little bit so it’s out the way okay there  we go I’ve got someone cutting papaya just here cab and everyone is serving around me but needs Â
Must when needs must so super gloopy looks a bit like when we had Rad Na that almost like  thick snotty sauce I thought it was noodles but it’s not noodles it’s bamboo shoots as a  drone flies over top but she has put in some white rice noodles in there too anyway keep Â
Talking because I’m buying time let’s try just a bit of that sauce with the Bamboo shoe well it’s spicy it added quite a lot of that chili in there the bamboo shoots give a  nice Crunch and texture and then I think this is definitely one like with you need to get Â
Over the texture like it is gloopy but once it’s in your mouth you don’t really notice it  there is a slight fishy taste it is salty but it’s balanced really nicely with that  chilli vinegar s that I added so fish more can’t have fish Maw without actually trying Â
The fish Maw it looks it looks like fat it looks like slow cooked wobbly fat but let’s try it oh  oh that’s great has like a spongy texture but soft very fishy but in a good way and Â
It sucked up the flavor from everything in that gravy let’s call it gravy because it’s not it’s  not sauce it’s gravy but like it’s a pleasant fishy flavor it’s not that like making you gag Â
Fishy flavor I could get used to that I was exp ing it to be a little odd but it’s not  what might be a little odd is everything else that’s thrown in it egg chicken blood so we’ll Â
Try a little bit of that blood cake I mean you guys know I like this this isn’t a chore Rich creamy and the egg quail egg it’s a thumbs up from me try new things don’t be put off all right guys I came earlier to Â
Avoid the crowds and considering I didn’t really do that I recommend you guys come later in the  evening because now the sun has gone down a little bit and they’ve switched the lights on the beauty Â
Of this place has just cranked up like three or four notches not only do they have lights running  down the center of the road but the Peranakan style houses are also illuminated too it’s so  beautiful and the atmosphere is so nice but it is absolutely rammed so be prepared for the crowds Â
But I don’t think that takes anything away from it to be honest it is a great night Mark and the  food is top quality anyway anyway anyway I think I have room for just a little more so let’s go find
Dessert I think I found something to try for dessert and she’s making them here so you have  peanut mung bean and black sesame she rolls them in this like rice flour chai rice flour  rolls them into bows and then coats them in a sesame outside so we’ll try a few of them and Â
I know I love this stuff this is coconut like pieces of coconut sugar and uh it’s like or  steamed flour with coconut filling let’s say that so we’ll get some of them as well to try can have Â
All okay just a mix chai cap chai so we’re going to get hopefully a mix of these bows chai a mix try ah black black bean not not black sesame understood so it’s black bean okay cow got that Â
Wrong so we get some of them and some of this cap so it’s 20 Baht if you want five of these  and then these are 10 Baht each so let’s find a place to try it problems filming myself as I said Â
Now it’s so busy but what you can do is get a kind assistant to hold the camera for you so what is  your name Jenny Jenny nice to meet you thank you very much is kindly offered to hold the camera so Â
If you don’t like the camera work in this shot blame Journey okay guys let’s start with these  snacks they’re called and you saw her making them back here this one is Peanut so she was  rolling the peanut ball rolled rice flour around it and then covered it in sesame they’re still
Warm m crunch on the outside from the sesame seed and you get that toasted sesame flavor but then  on the inside peanuty sticky gooey peanut on the inside inside and that gelatinous almost  sticky rice flour coating it it’s pretty tasty I don’t know what it reminds me of something Â
But I can’t place my finger on it it’s almost like let’s call it a Thai Ferrero roche without  the chocolate but it’s pretty damn good I also got mung bean not black sesame as I said it’s Â
Not mung bean I also got black bean mung bean the other one was mung bean I also got I also  got black bean not black sesame as I originally said it’s good but to be honest I struggle with Â
These beanie desserts just doesn’t make sense in my head I think peanut for me is the winner  now this one I know is good because I’ve had it before but not from this stool it’s called Â
Kanom Sai Sai and I love these little treats that come wrapped in these banana leaves and this one  as we open it up you can see the goodie inside it’s rice flour which has been set and inside Â
You have coconut meat which is mixed with brown sugar oh it looks so good I love this stuff two  different colors one of them is definitely with brown sugar and the other one might be green from Panda ma very that’s funny can’t even talk about being laughed at anymore anyway very very tasty Â
You get the flavor of the young coconut is young coconut so that young coconut flavor  comes through the flour is soft and delicate again like the other dish we had just melts  away in your mouth and then you get the sweetness of the of the brown sugar and because it’s brown Â
Sugar you get that like deeper sweetness that comes through but it’s light and you kind of  want to keep eating this one bite isn’t enough and probably end up buying more anyway guys thank you  so much for watching I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour around one of the most beautiful Â
Markets I’ve been to in Thailand and as you know we’ve been to them many many it’s going to be a  hard one to beat thank you so much for watching I’ll see you guys in the next video take care

You back in Thailand or you tricking us đ
I've been here 30 years mate you know nothing. Another clueless youtuber know it all….
I wish I could eat more street food in Thailand but my bf prefers white glove services at Michelin restaurants.đ˘đ˘đ˘
That secret fried chili/garlic/star anise and other secret ingredients are a game changer for me. I wished I could get that here in a 1 gallon jar.
The fish Maw soup is always good with Prig Nam Som, Joe. BTW, you said the word SOM perfectly, where the tone is raised higher. Gary says it with the tone lower, which had me chuckle all the time. đ
Was doing this 4 weeks ago and absolutely loved Phuket Old Town and the night market. Unfortunately we didn't try a lot of the food as we ended up doing a lot of our Christmas shopping, I wish I had tried the dumb especially. Maybe you should hire Jenny full time.
Nice work mate, I canât believe Iâve never been there on a Sunday!
Quail eggs pronounce in Thai is small dig.
We're sad you weren't able to find the dancing shrimp, but your "I'm ready for it" face made us LOL. Great video as always, Joe! đ
