[島根旅行] 出雲大社と絶景スポットを巡る、大人の癒し旅

After enjoying Osaka, I arrived at Okayama! I am transferring to a limited express train to Izumo. To Izumo, it’ll take another 3 hours from here. The travel time is a little long, but it’s my first time there, so I’m happy to go! I am heading by the “Yakumo” train with a local vibe.

I’d like to visit Okayama sometime. I slept well before I knew it, and when I realized it, I had arrived in Izumo. Lol It is 9:20 pm. I hope restaurants are open. I just slept on the move, but I’m hungry. Let’s find a place to eat.

After dropping off my luggage at the hotel, I saw the beautiful moon outside. Izumo City Station also has a nice feel to it. I found a restaurant I could get into even at 9:30 p.m. and decided to go there. The chicken with mustard miso served as a side dish is delicious!

The Kumidashi Tofu I was curious about and ordered was made with spring water in the mountains of Okuizumo and with a unique sweetness! Refreshing yet sweet Izumo Daikon (radish) Salad. Assorted sashimi, including seared puffer fish. All are delicious! Daisan herb chicken tempura was more generous than I imagined.

This sauce was also delicious and was finished in no time. Thank you for the meal! With my stomach full, I decided to go for a little stroll. It looks like Izumo City’s downtown area is here, Daikan Cho. I’m a little curious about the Yatai(stall) ramen.

It’s fun to feel like I’m in a deep place! I found a bar I’m interested in, let’s go in! It’s like a long-established bar, loved by locals and tourists alike, and has been in business for two generations, father and son. I ordered local sake, Izumofuji.

The master’s stories were interesting, and the hour flew by! It’s already midnight. Let’s go back to the hotel and get some sleep. A relaxing morning. Let’s get ready to leave by 9:00. The air was clear and cloudless! Let’s get a rental car while basking in the pleasant winter sun!

Pick up a car for this trip, and let’s go! There is a cute Izumo-like painting under the elevated railway tracks! I am heading to Izumo-Taisha Shrine while enjoying the scenery. I found a nice board and couldn’t resist filming it. There seems to be a winery! I can’t go this time, but I’m curious.

It looks like I’m almost at Izumo-Taisha Shrine. I arrived at Izumo-Taisha Shrine. Let’s head to the parking lot. Izumo-Taisha Shrine is one I’ve always wanted to visit, and I’m glad to come here. I was walking along, feeling peaceful with the clean air and scenery.

This place seems to be a habitat for fireflies. I wonder if we can see fireflies in the summer? Nominosukune Shrine is located next to the firefly habitat. This shrine is said to be honored as the founder of sumo wrestling. I was descending from a side road and joining the main road.

There is something across the Harae no Hashi bridge. The approach to the pine trees is very beautiful. There was a stone statue of a rabbit just across the Harae no Hashi bridge! There seems to be 66 stone statues of rabbits at Izumo-Taisha Shrine.

The statue of Musubi is on the right side of the row of pine trees. It seems to be written about the “Sakimitamakushimitama (Sacred Spirit).” The tezumisha (where you wash your hands and rinse your mouth) is designed so you don’t have to use a ladle. Let myself be calm and purified.

I’m passing through the copper torii gate to the hall of worship. Asymmetrical roof and powerful shimenawa(a sacred rope). Let’s buy a Omikuji (fortune) ticket at the adjacent Shamusho. I’m so nervous about what it says, I can’t open it properly. lol Instead of good luck/bad luck, it has a number written on it.

It’s said it’s a word from God to help us move forward in life. I tied my omikuji at the Omikuji Knot Place and went to the main shrine, built in 1744. Many people go to Sogano-yashiro to go the rim after visiting the shrine.

They seem to take the sand in the wooden box home in a bag they brought with them. There is a beautiful place with moss behind the main shrine. The stone statues of rabbits with offerings are so lovely to look at. And each expression and gesture is different!

These rabbits seem to be sunbathing in the sun while looking at the main shrine. Let’s go to Kaguraden. The shimenawa(a sacred rope) is even more significant than the worship hall. It is a little scary to walk under it. Let me pay my respects here as well. I’m approaching Otorii (Grand Gate).

The Otorii(Grand Gate) at Seidamari came into view. The reflection of the light is divine! This Otorii gate(Grand Gate) looks like it was rebuilt about five years ago. Let’s take a stroll along Omotesando’s Shinmon-dori. Goen Yokocho, where various stores are located. Since it’s lunchtime, there’s a queue at food restaurants.

I found a shop for handmade okaki (rice crackers) and bought a witty one. It seems yam is one of the ingredients, and that makes okaki sticky. Also, I bought matcha warabimochi and ichimi senbei (rice crackers)! I was getting hungry, so I went to a soba(buckwheat noodle) restaurant I wanted to visit.

I arrived at Heiwa Soba, a five-minute drive from Izumo-Taisha Shrine! It’s past noon and lunchtime, so about ten groups are waiting. I entered the restaurant after a little over an hour. Can’t wait! The Izumo specialty Wariko Soba noodles I ordered arrived! Little by little, the toppings on the soba change. lol

It seems we pour soup on the first level, and when we finish eating, we pour dipping soup on the second level. The portions are small so that I can eat them quickly. I enjoyed the flavor and firmness of the soba noodles!

The weather was excellent, and I wanted to see the ocean, so I took a short drive. I found a cafe with a view of the ocean, let’s go there. The ocean came into view! It’s so beautiful. Generator on the other side. I was feeling peaceful, and then I arrived at the café.

I went to the home-roasted coffee shop Ao. Now under the name Azu coffee roastery. It looks like it moved next to the roadside station, Kirara Taki. Small and cozy space. The counter is decorated with sea-inspired objects, and the ocean spreads before you.

Chiffon cake and café au lait came while I was leisurely gazing at the ocean. The café time I enjoyed with this view was a blissful time! I was looking at the ocean and I felt like going to the beach. Is that beige building the new location? I had a very delightful time.

After relaxing at the beach, I went to the next place. I’m heading to “Torupa,” a sunset spot on Lake Shinji, to see the sunset. Since I went to a roadside station, my arrival time may be just before sunset. I have to hurry up moderately!

I decided to get on the highway and head there. I arrived at Matsue just as the sun was setting nicely! I think I can make it in time! I arrived at Torupa! The sun I arrived at Torupa. The sunset is so beautiful! so beautiful! I went through the underpass to the opposite lane.

It’s a very beautiful sunset. Surprisingly, it’s long from here. I set it to 3x speed, but it doesn’t change at all. lol I had a massive mishap as I ran out of charge just as the sunset. But it was beautiful. Magic Hour is very beautiful. And the color gets even deeper.

Now that I’m back in Izumo, let’s return the rental car. Beautiful illumination at the station. I went to the restaurant where I had made a reservation. I’m glad I could come because I couldn’t book yesterday! I order crab cream croquettes whenever I find them. lol

The shiitake mushrooms are thick and delicious, with a concentrated flavor! Onigiri(rice ball) and miso soup came at the right time when I wanted to eat rice. Lots of large whitebait with a body-sucking flavor. I can’t miss it when I come to Shimane! Grilled shore dotterel!

It was delicious and was finished in no time! After dinner, I went to TANBEE, which I also visited yesterday. Same glühwein as yesterday, and cream cheese today. And the homemade chocolate was delicious! I wanted to stay a little longer but had to leave tomorrow to catch the 5:30 am train.

It is now 4:28 am. I’m sleepy, but let’s get up and get ready to leave. I’m glad I stayed at the Dormy Inn right next to the station. I haven’t been on a train this early morning in years. I always wanted to come to Izumo. I’m glad I could come.

Express train Yakumo arrives at the platform! I was surprised there were no seats in front of me! It is still dark at 5 o’clock in winter. It’s like being on a night train. The snow is beautiful all over the place. I’m getting sleepy, so let’s get some sleep.
