チュニジアひとり旅vlog – スター・ウォーズのロケ地のクサールとリゾートアイランド
Hello, I’m Chihiro. This time we will introduce Tataouine and Djerba Island in Tunisia. Tunisia is a country in North Africa. This time we will depart from Matmata and head to Djerba Island via Tataouine. Leaving Matmata! I run for an hour and then take a break. This village is Tujane.
There is an observation deck next to the cafe called Hamzaoui’s coffee break. On the fence is a desert rose made of plaster. The village that can be seen from the observation deck is Tujane. The village is sandwiched between mountains, and it’s amazing that there is a village in such a place!
There are shops, but nothing modern like a supermarket. The buildings in this village are made of dry stone. This time we will go down to the village. It looks like a ruin and I can’t believe people are living there. There is also a mosque in the village.
On the way, you will pass through various villages. It’s interesting that each village has a different atmosphere. As we progressed, there were more and more rocky mountains. The terrain is full of an alien feel. It’s fun to see the scenery that you can’t see anywhere else outside of Tunisia.
I can see something on the rocky mountain. This is a dinosaur. It felt like I was traveling back in time here. Arrived at Ksar Hadada. Ksar Hadada is located in Tataouine province. In front is a yellow mailbox from Tunisia. This is a Star Wars filming location.
There are souvenir shops lined up at the entrance. The souvenir shop has magnets and pottery. Tableware and cooking utensils are also available. First up is the traditional Berber Ksar. Berbers are an indigenous people of North Africa. Ksar is a traditional village of oasis residents.
This building was used as a house and a grain warehouse. The building is made of sun-dried bricks. Some aisles are quite narrow. The minaret of the mosque can be seen through the Ksar. The Ksar in this area has two floors. You can go up to the second floor using the outside stairs.
Put the kusar inside as well. The inside was divided into sections. The arches of the roof are aligned and everything is beautiful ♪ It’s amazing that it hasn’t collapsed at all and is in good condition! There are also arches that separate the sections. Go through the arch and go to the next section.
Colors are painted on traditional Ksar. This is a cafe space. There is a small kiosk where you can buy drinks and snacks. After passing through the tunnel, there is a Star Wars filming location. In episode 1, it was used as a slave settlement area on the outskirts of Mos Espa.
It was here that Qui-Gon Jinn learned a hidden secret about Anakin Skywalker as a child. I will also go up to the roof. Go to the top floor of Ksar. You can enjoy the surrounding scenery from the rooftop. The toilets are also Berber style. Olive trees, typical of Tunisia.
Inside the room there are tools to crush something. There is also a hotel where you can stay inside Ksar. There are several room types. First, go to a compact room. At the front is a washroom, toilet, and shower. In the back is a room with a carpet where you can sit.
The bed is in a cave. The second room is a vertically long room. There is a cave bedroom on the second floor. There is a higher floor. There are two bedrooms on the third floor. There are so many beds that a large family can stay here.
The door will open on the third floor. From here we could see Ksar Hadada from above. The washroom is larger than the previous room and has a toilet and shower. It was a hotel that I wanted to stay at. There was a mosque in front of Ksar Hadada. Departing from Ksar Hadada!
We will continue heading south. This town is Tataouine. Although it is a commercial center in the southern inland region, it is a small town with no tourist attractions.
After the French army established a base there at the end of the 19th century, the town was created by nomads and farmers from the surrounding area. As soon as you leave the town, you are faced with a desolate land.
There are no buses in this area, so if you want to sightsee, it’s common to go by car. Arrival at Ksar Ouled Sultan. Ksar Oured Sultan is a 30-minute drive from Tataouine. It was also used by the Berbers as a residence and grain warehouse. A cat approaches.
This Ksar is located on a hill and was built here to escape from attacks. Therefore, access is difficult and there is nothing around, so it is recommended to come by car. This is also a Star Wars filming location.
It was used as a slave quarters on the outskirts of Mos Espa in Episode 1. You can also put it inside the room. Many of the rooms had solid partitions. There are two courtyards, and around the first courtyard there are buildings of various shapes. Go to the second courtyard.
This is a line of 3 or 4 story buildings. There is an entrance on each floor, which can be accessed by an outside staircase. This place was also painted over the bricks. There is a date in the center. Berber houses are all unique and fun to look at.
In some places, the rooms were separated by bricks. A cat followed me throughout the tour, which was so cute. Even in the same ksar, each ksar had a completely different atmosphere. Departing from Ksar Ouled Sultan! Next, we will head north. Olive groves that did not exist in the south.
Clear skies and beautiful blue skies♪ Arrived at Sebuket El Mera. Sevket El Mera is a salt lake in southeastern Tunisia. The salt lake is approximately 150 square kilometers in area. The white scenery stretches all the way to the horizon due to the clean salt.
Because the salt concentration is high and plants cannot grow, it is used as a salt field. The weather was nice and clear, so the scenery was even more spectacular. There was a road between the salt lakes and we were able to park our cars there.
Pass through the sea to the island of Djerba. Arrival at Djerba Island. I went to Ume Suk in the northern part of Djerba Island. There is a market called Houm Souk in Ume Suk. It is packed with shops and restaurants. First, let’s head to the restaurant. I went to Restaurant Malouf.
The tiles at the entrance are cute ♡ There are lots of cats both outside and inside! The inside feels like a public dining room. The dish I ate was Rouz Jerbi (Jerbi rice).
Djerbian rice is a dish that originated on the island of Djerba and is a fusion of Berber, Jewish, Arab, and African cultures. It comes with olives, harissa sauce, and sweet onions, and the onions are my favorite. It was delicious with spices like paprika, mint, and coriander.
After eating, we went to explore Ume Suk. The buildings of Ume Suk are unified in blue and white. Souvenirs are lined up at the entrance. As you enter, you will see a narrow street lined with various shops. The fabric store has a lot of colorful patterned fabrics and is so cute!
The carpeting looks like Tunisia. There are many shoe stores. When you think of the blue and white town in Tunisia, it is Sidi Bou Said, but it seems that there are blue and white towns in various places in Tunisia. The blue door looks great against the white.
There are lots of shops and it’s fun to walk around. Tunisia’s yellow mailbox is also here. Even the mosque called Mosque of the Turks is blue and white. Colorful tableware was lined up. There is also an arch, which gives you a sense of the history of the souk.
There are many hotels around this area. I went into the hotel/restaurant. There are many resort hotels on Djerba Island, but if you are sightseeing, a hotel in the center of town might be a good idea. Just looking at this place, it looks like Greece. It’s a fashionable area.
There are also decorations on the top, probably because it doesn’t rain much. It was also decorated with the famous blue eyes of Greece and Turkey. This is a spice shop. The carpet is amazing. Blue and white to the restaurant. Here are your favorite stores.
The home goods store also has a wide selection of scented goods. The colors are calming and it is a relaxing shop. Departing from Ume Suk. We will spend one night on the island of Djerba before heading to Tunis. Djerba Island is a resort island that attracts vacationers from Europe.
It is surrounded by the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. There are two ways to get to Djerba Island. One way is to go through the bridge from the east side, and the second way is to go by ferry from the west side.
We crossed the bridge on the way there and took the ferry on the way back. The number of cars that can take the ferry is limited, so we waited for about an hour. The sea is clean and transparent. Take a walk around the port while you wait.
There is a shop, but the selection is not very good. WE♡DJERBA sign! There were also mermaids. Take a break at a cute rest area. On the other side is a fishing port full of nets! The boat is about to leave, so I head to the car. Let’s start boarding!
Cars park at the bottom and people go upstairs. Cars are loaded one after another. It has a lot of onions on it. Once the goat is on board, we’re off! The port gradually moves away. You can see the entire island of Djerba. Boarding time is 20 minutes.
You can sit on a bench, but the sea view was so beautiful that I stood the whole time. I passed the ferry on the opposite side. 0:21:04.934,1193:02:47.295 After a while, the town of Jorf came into view. As the time to disembark approaches, a crowd of people gathers at the exit.
When we arrived at Jorf, people and cars started getting off all at once. I couldn’t help but enjoy the boat trip. Depart Jorf and head to Tunis. On the way back to Tunis, I stopped at a parking area. There is a food court and shops here.
Purchased a four cheese sandwich from Plan B. This sandwich is packed with cheese and is a delight for cheese lovers. This concludes today’s video. Thank you for watching until the end.
チュニジアの南部にあるクサールは北アフリカの先住民族のベルベル人が住居、穀物倉庫として使っており、その特徴的な形から異星感があり、スター・ウォーズのロケ地としても使われています。
