Ueyama Rice Terraces are located in Ueyama Village, Mimasaka City, in the northern part of Okayama Prefecture. There used to be approximately 8,300 beautiful rice terraces spread out on the slopes of the mountain. Due to a lack of successors and an aging population, many rice terraces had become abandoned.
The slopes, which were once rice terraces, were overgrown with weeds and shrubs, and the beautiful scenery had been lost. Starting in 2007, local residents and settlers began working together to restore the rice terraces through regeneration activities such as mowing and traditional burning.
Thanks to everyone’s efforts, it has now been restored to almost its original appearance. I was very moved by the beautiful and wonderful scenery. Thank you for your viewing.

In 2007, local residents, immigrants, and city residents began working together to restore the rice terraces through grass cutting and traditional village burning.
Nowadays, it has been restored to almost its former appearance, making it a very pleasant sight.

🟩陸の豊かさも守ろう🌲
後継者不足や高齢化により耕作放棄地となり、かつて棚田だった斜面には雑草や潅木が生い茂り、美しい棚田の景観が失われていたとの事です。
2007 年から地元住民、移住者、都市住民が協力して、草刈りや伝統的な野焼などの再生活動を通じて棚田を復元する取り組みを始めました🌾
ご尽力くださった皆さまのおかげで、現在はほぼ元の姿に復元されており、とても美しく心地良い景観となっていてとても感動しました🥷♡
