A Saturday at 11:00 a.m. I’m going to enjoy a 6-hour stopover before heading to Izumo. How many places can I get to in 6 hours or less? I found an attractive store on the way to the ticket gate. I was surprised at the variety of bento boxes!
I wanted to buy one, but I took a train. First, I headed to GRAND FRONT OSAKA for lunch. I arrived at Grand Front while being lost a bit! Without looking aside, I went straight to the restaurant I wanted.
At 11:40 a.m., I arrived at “Fukutaro,” a restaurant I had been looking forward to visiting! Looks like there are two groups waiting! I waited about 10 minutes and then took a seat at the counter. I was seated where I could see cooking! Amazingly, one person can make seven!
It looks like the two in the front are done. The one with cheese looks delicious. Drizzle with plenty of sauce, The ultimate with mayonnaise and aonori (green laver)! I can’t wait to eat them. While I was looking around to see which one I ordered, “Yamaimo-yaki” came!
It was fluffy, and the broth was exquisite! It was so good I ate it right away. A little later, the Suji-negi yaki came! Looks delicious with the soy sauce shining! Suji-negi yaki looks fluffy, too. I really like the beef tendon and the seasoning! I’d love to have another piece but held out.
I held off, and I was heading to the next restaurant. I headed for “Shichifukujin,” a 10-minute walk from the restaurant. I was looking forward to coming here because it was another restaurant I’d wanted to visit! I was surprised to see more varieties of skewers than I had imagined!
I ordered several things I wanted to try. They have a variety of seasonings. They were delivered about one after another 5 minutes later! They all look delicious! I’ll start with sand borer. Sprinkle a little sauce on top. It’s hot and tasty! Fried chicken came after and was also delicious!
I enjoyed skewers and moved on to the next place. It was only one stop, but I took the train. The destination is Tenjinbashi Shopping Street. I heard there is a famous croquette shop, so I came here. There is a store with a queue on the right!
Nakamuraya is at the end of the line. There are about 30 people in the queue! After about 10 minutes in the queue, I ordered one croquette and one minced pork cutlet. The croquettes were reasonable and fried hot. It’s a very long shopping street, so I took a stroll.
I searched and found that it is about 2.6 km long. It is lively and fun just to walk around! After walking around for a while, I found a crepe take-out! I asked for butter and sugar, and the dough was softer than expected.
After enjoying the shopping street, I headed to a sightseeing spot I had never been to. Another subway ride for one stop, and I arrived at the nearest station to the destination. I am heading to Osaka Castle, which I can see in front. Walking along the west outer moat to the castle.
Walking along the moat enjoying the view. Arrived near the Ote-mon Gate! There are many marathon runners, just like the Imperial Palace! It looks like Ote-mon Gate is an important cultural property. It’s really amazing that a 400 year old building is still standing today.
I find various points of interest, think about the construction, and have fun as I go along. It’s exciting, like how they transported stones of a size I’ve never seen before. This is the first time I came to Osaka Castle! It’s too bad I don’t have time to go to the castle tower.
I’d like to visit the castle tower next time I visit. It’s already less than two hours for stopover. I need to hurry to my next destination! Arrived at Tenjinbashisuji 6-chome! It’s about 5 minutes walk from the station.
I arrived at Sodai Sho, which I wanted to come to! It’s 3:30 p.m., so I don’t have to wait in queue to get in! There are so many celebrity autographs posted in various places. I’m feeling hungry and looking forward to it! Maybe This salt ramen taught me how good it tastes.
I couldn’t wait and started eating it the moment Kuro Daisho(Soy Sauce based ramen) arrived. The soy sauce is the base of the ramen. However, it has a depth to it that makes you want to eat more and more! I would love an additional fried rice dish if I had room in my stomach.
Gyoza (dumplings), a perfect chopstick rest to curb your hasty urge for ramen and fried rice. Thank you for the meal! It’s time to return to Shin-Osaka Station. It was fun to visit all the places I wanted to go in 6 hours; it felt like I was completing a game!
And I didn’t get lost at Umeda station. lol! It was a 6-hour trip where I enjoyed both local food and the famous Negi yaki and Kushikatsu (skewered meat on skewers). And I could have visited Osaka Castle!
I have been to Osaka many times, but there are many places I still don’t know. Let’s come back again. It’s time to head to Izumo! It looks like about 4 hours from Shin-Osaka to Izumo. I’ll take the Shinkansen to Okayama and transfer to an express train to Izumo.
It’s about an hour to Okayama, so I should try not to oversleep. Lol I rarely go west of Shin-Osaka by the Shinkansen, so let’s enjoy the scenery.
