Located between Chaco Culture National Historical Park and the Bisti Badlands, King of Wings is one of thousands of rock hoodoos scattered about the dry washes of this high desert plateau.
For years, I have admired photos taken from here and the surrounding area. After doing a bit of digging, I felt confident that I could find its remote location. As with any widely documented subject I shoot, doing something different is my goal. Getting underneath the wing and looking up into the sky felt like a natural way one would view a wing. Using an ND filter allowed me to expose for long enough to get the lovely painterly effect in the sky. This image represents to me when the finished product is far more beautiful that what I had visualized prior to taking the shot.” #ShotOnCanon
