Last year, we teamed up with field partner @irepfoundation to bring fathers and daughters together for a special event, titled Strong Dads Raising Strong Daughters: An Intergenerational Dialogue. Hosted in the remote village of Kotulpogh, West Pokot, Kenya, the event was held to strengthen their shared understanding around the girls’ wellbeing, their needs and the roles fathers can play in helping girls realize their full rights and potential. ‘My mother and father were illiterate, which is why I was not educated,’ explained Kakaimaa Namoler, father to 9-year-old Faith. ‘Now I understand that it is important for me to take my child to school. Now that I have set this new path with my first born, I will make sure that they all go to school,’ Namoler added. I have continued to work closely with I_Rep Executive Director Domtila Chessang to bring sustainable education measures to this remote village, as education is the single more effective factor in ending child marriage.
These photographs were made with a Canon EOS R5 camera and an RF24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens. I alternated between Manual and Aperture-priority and the ISO was set at 200.”
