Take a look inside an active volcano with explorer, @samcossman as he tells his story of his extreme environment photography adventure using our gear like the C300 Mark II.

“Airborne volcanic material is caustic within a few miles of a volcano. When you’re spitting distance from one of the world’s seven lava lakes, volcanic ash is literally chewing visible holes in any exposed skin or equipment. When we were at Masaya in Nicaragua, our metal anchors and zip-lines used to descend to the lava lake crater floor would be destroyed in a matter of hours. We’d often have to replace them in the morning for safety concerns. Surprisingly, our Canon cameras including the C300 Mark II held up well in the extreme environments. While our handgrips began to deteriorate over a period of time, Canon glass and the sensors remained protected by the ruggedized bodies for the weeks we were there. A testament of Canon’s build quality.” 🌋

Ciao, Nihon.
