We’re celebrating #NationalWildlifeDay with this beautiful photo by #CanonExplorerOfLight @ricksammonphotography: “I call this one ‘Cheetah Playtime.’ This photograph, taken in Botswana, shows the playful nature between the mother cheetah and her cubs. In my wildlife photography, I often transfer human feeling to the animals I am photographing, which is called anthropomorphism.

To capture the peak of action and subtle differences in the gestures of the animals, which is important in all wildlife photography, I set my camera to the highest frame rate.

Newcomers to wildlife photography sometimes confuse cheetahs with other big cats. An easy way to tell the difference is to think about crying: a cheetah has dark lines of ‘teardrops’ running down its cheeks, and a cheetah is so beautiful that it can make a person cry.”
