This exciting release marks the first of three original digital artworks that compel the viewer to reflect on the power and beauty of nature while celebrating Dutch national heritage.
‘Our Strong Red Lalibela’ (Onze Sterke Rode Lalibela) is a composition of images that were captured in the west region of the Netherlands, an incredible location for discovering bold and beautiful flowers. Red, the colour of the Lalibela, has associations with a wide range of symbolic meanings – love, war, vigour and life. All of these connotations have deep historic roots reflected by the top colour of the Dutch national flag and flower, the tulip. To celebrate this history, the freshly cut Red Lalibela is suspended in zero gravity, thereby encouraging viewers to admire the true beauty of these flowers while also considering the deeper symbolic meaning behind them.
