Oskar is described as ‘a tough, mushy soft genderqueer femmeborg. As an emerging creative, Oskar wishes to speak of negritude, of largess, sex, queerness, love, heritage and of becoming an explorer of and for Africa.’ To create this image I used a single strobe to the right hand side of the frame with the subject standing directly in front of a gold textured background (fundamentally a large piece of foam core covered in a gold wallpaper). I asked the subject to throw their head back dramatically to help create a sense of energy to the shot by capturing movement in the hair.
