【今日の話題】無印良品のリサイクル ヨーロッパでの取り組み

世界中のさまざまな国や地域において「感じ良いくらし」を提案する無印良品は、地球資源の循環化および廃棄物削減のため、日本のみならず、各地でさまざまな取り組みを進めています。本日は、ヨーロッパ各国で取り組んでいる活動の一例を紹介します。
無印良品はモノをつくり、モノを売る立場として、役割を終えたモノたちの行く末を考えています。
MUJI イタリア は、2021年4月より、不要になった化粧品ボトル、アルミ缶キャンドル、ワインボトルなどを店頭で回収する活動をスタートしました。パートナー企業との協業を通じて、新しい商品へリサイクルする取り組みにつながっています。
また MUJI UK では、2021年4月より、PET詰替えボトル、スキンケアなどのプラスチック商品の店頭回収を開始し、お店で使用するダンボールや包装用プラスチックなどの廃棄物もリサイクルに回しています。
加えて、スペイン旗艦店「MUJI PASSEIG DE GRACIA」では、お店に回収ボックスを設置し、繊維製品の回収を実施しています。
これからも、環境や社会、地域のために何ができるかを考え、「商い」を通じて社会に貢献することを目指します。

Recycle at MUJI – Initiatives in Europe and UK
MUJI proposes ‘a simple, pleasant life’ in countries around the world and encouraging various initiatives to help recycle natural resources and by reducing waste in-stores. Today, we would like to introduce activities by MUJI Europe and UK.
In April 2021, MUJI Italy started the initiative to collect waste packaging from food and beverage products, empty skincare containers, and used aluminium tin candles. MUJI UK has also started in-store collections of PP bottles, drawers, and skincare containers. In addition, cardboard boxes, plastic packaging, and other waste materials used in stores and the distribution centre are also collected for recycling. In our flagship store in Spain, MUJI Passeig De Gracia has set up collection boxes in-store to collect unwanted clothes and textiles products. All of the collected waste materials will be recycled and made into new products, through our local waste management companies. Textiles that can be reused will be donated to local no-profit organisations. Other non-recyclable materials are sent to generate green energy in UK and Europe.
MUJI always considers the future of its products as they fulfil their role and function. We will continue to think about what we can do for the environment, the society, and the community,and to make contributions through our business activities.
