I’ve photographed many people, yet some stay in your heart forever. I once took portraits at a conference that advocated for the safety of Black men within metropolitan cities. Some of them had seen some of the most violent activities in their neighborhoods, yet they knew the importance of changing their life to save the lives of friends and families. Making this portrait was the highlight of my time because a simple peace sign means so much more than a friendly hand gesture. To me, it meant that we should practice peace and understanding daily for us all to be equal in this world.”
