Celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with #CanonExplorerOfLight @jenwuphoto | “Hello, everyone! This is Jen Wu, and I photograph nature and landscapes. In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, I’ve been invited me to take over the Canon U.S.A. Instagram handle to share the story of my Asian upbringing. My dad, who is Chinese-American, and my mom, who is European-American, opened the doors to so many amazing cultural experiences for me while I was growing up. As an adult, I’ve come to appreciate these experiences even more. One of my favorites on my dad’s side is celebrating the Chinese New Year. We used to spend time prepping meals ahead of the big day, and also attended the New Year parade in San Francisco. I’ll always remember how we’d get these beautiful red envelopes that we’d open up to find a dollar inside! I love these experiences and I love being of Chinese descent. In celebrating the color red–or, at least, colors close to it–I like the deep orange color I was able to capture is this photo of the hoodoo formations at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.”
