
#BehindTheShot with #CanonExplorerOfLight @ricksammonphotography: “Photographers need to do some behind-the-scenes thinking when taking BIF (Bird in Flight) photographs. For this picture of a soaring blue heron, I thought about photographing with the sun behind him – so the bird’s eye was well lit, which is a key element in a good bird photograph. I also decided to photograph birds in flight with only the sky as a background, as opposed to trees. To get a sharp shot, I set my Canon EOS R6 to AI Servo focus (focus tracking) and then selected Animal Tracking, which tracks even fast-moving animals. My lens of choice for this thoughtful photograph was the Canon RF100-500mm, set at 186mm.”
