“Photographers love boxing gyms. They have a spirit to them that translates well visually. I was working around the gym and the window light we had been using faded away on a winter afternoon. Not ready to leave we set up to shoot some portraits. Edgar was one of our first subjects. Still sweaty from his workout, we enhanced the sweat with a little baby oil mixed with water. The framing was tight out of necessity as the gym was very small.”
