When I first met Aamito she embodied feminine strength & power and I knew the next time I saw her I wanted to capture that. The choice of light, background, image toning & rawness evokes emotion and gives an authentic approach – the way in which a portrait photographer would capture character.
I often find that portraiture and fashion cross over. Fashion is an overall theme and portraiture is a type of photography. When I photograph fashion portraits as part of an editorial (or talent for a cover of a magazine) I am looking for a sense of personality & character, the same way a portrait photographer would approach a shoot. I don’t just want to photograph ‘fashion’ for the sake of showcasing product – I love when I can dig a little deeper.”
