In the midst of busy days, a simple cup of coffee can calm the mind and organize one’s thoughts. Chiang Mai is located in the lush mountains of northern Thailand, a famous region where high-quality coffee beans are grown. Crafted from abundant nature and by kind people, each cup has a certain peace of mind. It’s not just delicious, it’s a cup that helps to balance the mind and body. In search of such well-being coffee, we walked around the cafes of Chiang Mai , surrounded by greenery and quiet roasters on street corners. A journey to encounter the unique atmosphere and aromas. In fifth place No.39 Cafe A cafe with attractive greenery and a blue pond full of photogenic spots Isn’t it this one? It’s like a general store This cafe is located on the outskirts of Chiang Mai surrounded by nature It’s a cafe that’s also popular as a photo spot I’d like a hot Americano, please I was able to choose these beans with the Blue Pond and wooden huts scattered around the open space makes for great photos it’s like the pinnacle of photogenic I’d like to say that it’s a recommended place for those who want to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city but… it was quite crowded so I thought next time, I might avoid the busy times and visit in the morning to relax more this is No. 39 Cafe Access details are explained in another video, so if you’d like, please take a look at that too . This time, I ordered a blend of Doi Chang and Pafee coffees from Chiang Rai. It’s a medium roast washed process, and the bright acidity reminiscent of citrus and the soft sweetness are in perfect harmony. It had a very refreshing aftertaste. This cafe is a little away from the center… The taste, service, and atmosphere… were all well-balanced. No. 4: Kalm Coffee in Kalm Village Chiang Mai A quiet cafe in a complex where art and tradition live on MOM Museum of the Makers What is this kalm Village Art, Craft and Culture Centre Ta-da ! What kind of content is it…? So, here I’m currently in the main lobby From the lobby… that means there’s a kitchen restaurant and library coffee shop and gallery hall studios and… there’s loads of them or so it seems I’d like to take a quick look around Kalm Village, which houses Kalm Coffee located in Chiang Mai’s Old Town is a complex of arts and traditional culture within the facility galleries, craft shops libraries, workshop spaces, cafes, etc. local artisans and It’s a cultural village-like space where you can spend some quiet time while experiencing the works of artists. Chiang Mai is a small city, but it’s dotted with countless coffee shops. I think there are about 200 to 300 of them… This one’s a medium roast… This one’s a dark roast. The atmosphere is great for a cafe. The interior of the shop is really cute There seem to be a few terrace seats Basically the cafe is on this floor The floor above is a library which was turned into a study space so it was pretty quiet This is what it looks like upstairs The characteristics of the coffee I ordered were Kalm Village’s This coffee shop’s signature blend… Made with a mix of Thai and Laotian beans It’s not acidic… If you don’t like the acidity of coffee you might like this If you can handle the acidity at all There were three… light roast and… medium and dark… If it were a lighter roast, it would have a bit more of a sharp acidity… while sipping delicious coffee… this is a recommended place for those who want to work or study in third place, the very popular Fern Forest Cafe despite being in the old town its charming oasis-like presence with its beautiful garden this is where I just came! Fern Forest Cafe is a place called I’ve returned to the old town the garden is surrounded by greenery and it’s like it’s covered in ferns… …the atmosphere and old-fashioned wooden building… it’s a lovely cafe with colonial-style architecture there are a lot of people here, aren’t there? Right now, you know… It’s like 3pm , right? If I had to choose, there would probably be more people here… from overseas… Western countries than people from Asia or something It’s probably got this kind of atmosphere, right? Thank you Shall we take a look at the second floor? The atmosphere here is amazing Look This selection… Sweet tooths of both men and women will be pleased Those cakes look delicious The whipped cream on the shortcake… It’s really… well whipped Oh, the kind that makes you take your shoes off The top is cute Not only Thai people People from all over Asia, Europe and the United States I got the impression that they had a wide range of customers All Day Breakfast It looks great, and they have a decent selection of food At this cafe Dice Steak Bowl Gapao Rice Spicy but delicious I ordered a Club Sandwich Usually when I go to these kinds of restaurants that have everything , I’m often disappointed with the food but this restaurant was delicious I realized after the sun went down it’s time because it’s already night doesn’t the atmosphere at night really look great? I want you to see the feeling of this light is really great This cafe has a wide variety of menu items, salads, sandwiches, Western food, Thai food, cakes, pancakes, and drinks, tea, Thai tea, matcha, coffee, everything it felt like it was super~ It’s nice at night too. It’s quite crowded at night too. Fern Forest Cafe It’s crowded, but there are plenty of seats, so if you’re feeling a bit tired after walking around the old town , why not stop by? 2nd Place Hmong Doi Pui Family Coffee Enjoy in a Hmong village Rare home-roasted coffee Doi Pui is on this mountain… Doi Pui Village on this mountain? So what did I come here for…? I… Family Plantation I came to see a coffee plantation Yay! Chiang Mai is …the reason why Thailand became famous for its coffee was originally due to the Royal Project Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai This region in northern Thailand was once infamous as the Golden Triangle Originally, hill tribes around here made a living by cultivating poppy seeds initiated by King Rama IX to alleviate poverty these farmers started from poppy seeds to Arabica coffee although Thai coffee export volume is low compared to the world globally though its coffee is now internationally acclaimed They are popular as high-quality beans Oh, is that a poppy flower? (It’s poppy.) The history of coffee in Thailand actually dates back to the Ayutthaya Dynasty 1351-1767 Records from that time show that coffee was cultivated …records remain Coffee cultivation in Thailand is divided into Robusta in the south and Arabica in the north Robusta seedlings were brought from Indonesia in 1904 and spread throughout the south Meanwhile, Arabica was introduced in the 1950s and became fully established in the north In 1969, it was promoted as a crop to replace poppy cultivation under the Royal Project of King Rama IX. It became the foundation of Thailand’s current coffee culture . Yes ! It’s here! Coffee ! This is a coffee cherry tree , the source of coffee beans . It’s my first time seeing one. I ‘ve always wanted to see one , and I’ve always wanted to come here. สวยมาก | So beautiful. It’s that one . Mmmmm. It’s certainly sweet. You know, on the way home from school… by the roadside… When you put a flower in your mouth… you saw one that sucked nectar, right? It tastes like a subtle honey This is the Arabica coffee I always drink… It takes a lot of time and effort… Instead of just eating it as is you have to… peel it… …dry the skin… take out the nuts, and then grind them again… Everything takes a lot of time to be made, doesn’t it? Knowing that makes me wonder if it’s really true that we cherish its beautiful! Can you see it? It’s so beautiful! This cafe is located in the mountains, a little far from the old town, but it’s a cafe where you can enjoy rare beans that are only sold within the village and that can only be found locally are recommended for coffee lovers looking for a highly fragrant cup of coffee that coffee farm we were talking about earlier… it’s more like a home garden it’s a family coffee farm just below that the main coffee shop is here where you can buy your coffee beans Robusta… No. 1 Okay, this one all of the beans are grown here Number 1 is the Robusta variety and numbers 2 to 6, I think? …are Arabica beans Only number 7 is peeled differently Number 7 is dried before the kernel is removed That’s the only difference Numbers 1, 5… are unique And number 7 I’d like all of them to be hot Americanos Numbers 1, 5 and 7, please Butter honey toast Number 7 would be from the Drip Coffee Set, please You’re going to brew it yourself, right? |Yes|OK As I said before These are Robusta beans Your coffee is here Let’s eat Mmmmmmmmm It’s not that sour The aroma is deep, or rather It has a dark feeling This Robusta It’s number one Next is number five, this Arabica I ordered coffee made with Arabica beans The one I just tasted… …is it… these beans Hmm Compared to Robusta Arabica has an aftertaste when you drink it It’s not a fruity flavor but it’s a little fruity… Also, I feel like there’s a sourness after drinking it after drinking it I ordered toast To go with it, I ordered honey toast Is the honey from Chiang Mai? I asked, and they said it was from Chiang Mai Hmm… ⤴ Is there anything better than this? On top of a mountain, in the fresh air Drinking organic coffee Eating honey toast made with honey from Chiang Mai It just couldn’t get any better Hmm… 👍👍 Here! I ordered a drip coffee set! Ta-da! The way of drip brewing varies from person to person There are quite a few, you know but first they often say that you steam the beans This is No. 7… Number 7… Hmmmm These beans? First… They’re dried and then peeled… so they might be more sour This one, number 7, is more sour than the one from before, number 5 I think these would make a great souvenir, but… the beans This is one of those experiences you can only have in Chiang Mai and you can’t have in Bangkok so if you’re interested, please check out Doi Pui Village too Yes it’s a little difficult to get to, but… if you’re a coffee lover… you’ll definitely love this place Akha Ama Coffee Phrashingh Shop Delivered by the Akha people Fair Trade Coffee Ta-da! And now , this coffee shop is… Aka Ama Coffee. This coffee company was founded by Ms. Lee, who is from an Aka village, a hill tribe in Chiang Rai province. Aka Ama means “mother of the Aka people.” The village was poor, and the people made a living by growing coffee beans. There was no school in the village, so Ms. Lee studied Thai at a school away from the village, supported by the Kingdom of Thailand , and became the first person in the village to graduate from university. She studied coffee roasting in the US, and in 2010 opened a cafe called Aka Ama Coffee in Chiang Mai province. She serves cherry coffee (coffee berries) and parchment coffee. Instead of selling the coffee beans (with the pulp removed) to middlemen at a low price , they cultivated and processed them themselves and sold them, which enabled them to sell them at a better price. They also refrained from using chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides, and instead cultivated fruits and vegetables in addition to coffee trees, practicing an organic and sustainable mixed cultivation method that does not rely solely on coffee. After learning about the coffee business, Lee branded and developed his Aca Ama coffee, and used the profits to build a school for village children. He is attracting attention as an entrepreneur who contributes to improving the lives of the local community through a sustainable coffee business. It’s got espresso, honey, and orange peel. It has orange peel in it Mmmm Mmm! It’s delicious and refreshing. It has honey in it so the coffee is a little sweet like… but then a faint… smells like orange peel delicious Even people who don’t like coffee can totally drink this and it looks great, too And this one is a long black it has a sour taste but it disappears as you drink it and then it’s refreshing because we’re in Thailand it’s easy to get beans from Chiang Mai are easy to get fresh so easy to get When I look at them, I always think that there are more places that serve light roasts , but there aren’t many that serve dark roasts either. Maybe the beans themselves are suited to a light roast . I don’t think I’ve seen much writing about dark roasts in Chiang Mai . Most of them are light. Grown completely pesticide-free and using forest farming methods, they serve high-quality, sustainable coffee. They have a wide variety of authentic coffee dishes. Definitely stop by. It was so cute. Currently, they have two stores in Chiang Mai , and they ship their beans to major supermarkets, so I thought it would make a great souvenir to buy . I spent about a week relaxing in Chiang Mai, and there were so many stylish cafes. As I mentioned in my Thailand souvenir series, northern Thai coffee makes a great souvenir. Chiang Mai is an interesting city with its own unique culture, different from Bangkok. I plan to upload videos about shopping spots , temples, and more in the future , so please look forward to them.
