A walking tour of Hoshinoya Kyoto Arashi yama. It’s overall a serene beautiful place with Katsura river and foliage. The level of hospitality by the staff is crazy good. They treat you like you are royalty.

They give you lots of activities/programs to optionally sign up for. We signed up for the “special dinner under the 400-year old Maple tree” and it was awesome. We also signed up for the “morning guided mini hiking & breakfast” activity. It was awesome. Highly recommended. Again, the staff treat you like you are the emperor and queen.

[how to get there]: Once you arrive at Arashi yama station, you walk to cross the big bridge (called Wataritsuki bashi: this is a popular tourist area with thousands of shops), then you sign up at Hoshinoya reception office, then there is a free boat for Hoshinoya guests that travels every hour between the reception office and the actual hotel facility.

Even if you miss this boat, it’s only 1km of nice river side trail with a nice view with no elevation, so you can technically just walk too.

星のや京都。紅葉が綺麗です。明治時代からの老舗旅館「嵐峡館」を買収・改修して2009年にオープンしました。嵐山のこのエリアは、平安貴族が別荘を構えた由緒ある場所です。高級旅館だけに、船乗り場から敷地内の庭園や茶室に至るまで、「都の歴史に思いを馳せ、時を忘れる体験」のコンセプトを実現するために、気合を入れて作り込まれています。
